What kind of designs do you collect? I collect Flowers with faces and animals with musical instruments. I thought of this today as I was d/l freebies and the one from daily is really cute, it is a fox playing a violin. I hope to have an orchesta or at least a band some day.

What kind do I not collect (OK I have become more careful and only collect what I might use one day.)

I wish I could, I had to stop myself this morning. Success!

Hi Cuties. I started with the "freebies" I have so many I don't know what I have. So, now I'm more selective. I love alphabets, fsl ornaments, and now, I only buy what I know I will use.

Hmmm, that depends upon my mood! I am trying not to download every freebie I come across...especially the ones that are just "so so" that I think I will never use...sometimes it just depends upon what project I am wrapped up in at the moment...I am trying to be more selective...especially with alphabets that take soooo long to complete, that I will probably never use!

To be honest I collect very little now, I have decided to go through all my older designs and usb keys and see what I purchased and collected when I first started embroiderying. The first year I collected and purchased alot more that I embroidered. I was fascinated by the possiblities. I had more pennies back then as I was working full time so it was a good time for me to buy. Pennies are fewer these days and I have more than I can possibly use in 10 lifetimes so I am very selective now of what I purchase.

Well said!

I want to do what you do, so I have been categorizing. I do not have a big big hoop and I have yet to really do a multipart.
by chenille 21 Jan 2014
So true, so true! Categorizing is a nasty job, but someone has to do it ! lol!

Hi Christine - and everybodeeeeee,
I cannot pass up on a cat design and consider it a great day when I find one I don't have. I drool over cats in clothes, or crazy kats riding bikes, or any unexpected expression. I actually still spend money on Cat designs. I also can't pass up buying an African Grey design, but they are few and far between. And song birds are still pretty special to me. I hate it when I miss alphabet letters still, even though I rarely stitch them. How about others??

I have missing letters all over, now I am working on words, so trying to put lower case with uppers that do not have them.

I know I spend way too much time on my files. They are neater than my house, and way neater than my sewing room!

I love Urban threads designs and have bought loads. I like the style of them. I am also appear to be buying some designs from the European sites that Bettina has introduced me too. I have a interesting (to me) selection of designs that fit many different needs. I don't go for cutie cartoony designs unless its very special

I love FSL designs and have many of them. I am now very selective on what I buy and download. Most of the freebies I bypass. I am going to start going through my designs one by one and start getting rid of what I know I will never use. I do not collect any of the alphabets any more. I have so many now to choose from. I like flower designs and designs with cardinals and bluebirds.

I love designs of sewing notions or machines. I like the very realistic or rw types that looks like hand embroidery BUT I'm not crazy about goofy cartoonish ones. I heard about a free sewing machine design and checked to see what it was and it was laughing and curled up almost...not my cup of tea. I also like designs of antiques...phones, typewriters or kitchen items. Again I like them to be realistic or rw type not cartoonish. Of course anything for me is always on the back burner and most of what I stitch is baby/child items. I'm plotting out new machine covers that will finally use the sewing notion designs and fonts but that will take time, I want them perfect!

I am struggling a bit putting fabric and designs together. I also want them perfect.
by kylasm 22 Jan 2014
I'm planning on using some vintage fabric to make matching covers for all 4 machines and it would irk me to mess up, waste the fabric and only have enough for 3 to match. I would see it everyday and scowl, I just know it!

I am way more selective these days. I find myself buying more and not taking the freebies as much. I prefer realistic designs and love flowers, butterflies, birds, houses (with landscaping ), and fsl. I have bought a lot from Embroidery Library, Sue Box, and Kara. I dislike the cartoonish type and never seem to do baby designs (no babies to do for :-(). As for alphabets, I usually wait for special initials I know I will use. I have more than enough! Lately I have found that some applique intrigues me and I like the idea of doing "appliscapes" combined with embroidery. That is on the "to do" list though! At the moment I am pondering over what to make for my spring wardrobe as well as some home dec. projects.
