Quick question: Which stabilizer do you use successfully for applique on light weight cotton fabrics for a washable pillow slipcover. Tear away? Cut away?
I'm about to do a test out of a turkey I digitized for a class. I'm going to try tear away but I'm sure I will have to do more than 1 so go ahead and comment.
Yes, I have stabilizer guides, but there are sooo many.

I would probably use the No Show Mesh - I did attend the Floriani class, and this was recommended...They also state a light tear away. I like the mesh, then trim close to the design area. The Mesh was recommended too for the little one piece suits for the babies, and the little shirts.

I would say no show mesh. It works really well for so many things. It is lighter weight than a regular cut-away and does not show behind most fabrics. For light cotton you may also need an iron on interface - depends on the number of stitches you have in your design.

I have recently been using some light-weight poly cotton sheeting. Ran out of the usual stabilizer and I had been given a pile of off-cuts from the Sheridan sheets.Works really well. I just cut it away with a pair of pinking shears so it won't fray. (I spray my embroidery project with 505 temporary glue and stick it to the hooped poly cotton.)

I have been told that wash away/tear away is very good. I got a huge roll for Christmas but have not had a chance to try it yet. It is supposed to leave stabilizer under your design for support but the rest washes away. I have been attending the Bullard webinars and that this seems to be the stabilizer of choice there. Hope this helps.
