Anyone doing the new 2014 Jacobean Embroidablock at Hoop Sisters??? It is lovely! I have never done one of their block of the months projects...have any of you...if so, can you share how you enjoyed it and how it looked when it was finally put together? It is a quilt as you go type project...

I thought it was very expensive...For the Goose Tracks Quilt there was one block a month...$10...I think there were about 14 blocks...and then the border pattern was an additional $60...and then the supplies...their batalizer is extremely pricy...then add the fabric and threads...and there is a lot of waste in this type of process...I figured it would run $300 and that was if I could get a good price on the fabric...

I did one last summer and it was probably the most expensive quilt I ever made! Figuring the cost of the designs, class and special materials-thier own battilizer and I can't begin to tell you how much thread and how many bobbins. I did buy all at the shop so I know it cuold be done for less if I were to do another one. If you have a goood source of thread that you like I would say to get it ahead of time and get the largest spools available. If you want it to look good on the back you should match your bobbin thread so allow for that. I loved the idea and their quilts are beautiful ;however, very, very heavy when finished. You have to be very careful to follow their instructions carefullyand in order. The joining together of blocks was difficult I thouhgt. Don't mean to scare you off as I did enjoy it and always like to learn new techniques. Plus, it was good to learn something new to do on the embroidery machine. Have fun. Will look forward to seeing how you like it.

About 2 years ago I made one and enjoyed the process but I have never made another from them. It was fun but the expense was more than the value received and the finishing was a nightmare.

that sounds like a shame.

I looked at doing the Goose Tracks two years ago...is that the one you did? I did not particularly care for the way it was put together...and I thought the price was too much for me...I do like the looks of this year's Jacobean quilt though...
