It sounds like you might be thinking of one of the programs that auto digitizes. I have no experience with this. I think at one time it was offered as an add on to Futura's. If someone else can remember a name for this, you could look it up on ebay or you tube. It isn't as well done as "real digitizing" but works for kids drawings, etc as I remember.

PE Design Next 9 does have an auto-digitizing function, but I am not sure you would be very pleased with the results...there is a significant difference between designs that are auto-digitized and those that are digitized manually...I think that Mops did a comparison of the two and explained the differences in one of her posts...

I use an older PE Design version and yes, you can draw your own picture and then digitize it so you can sew it. I am also looking at this program since I already can use the earlier version. But... I am also going to look at Embird since so many of my favorite digitizers use it, and love it. I have never used an automatic digitizing element.
