Hi cuties,

need some help, I have been asked to make a new altar parament for my catholic Church and was wondering if anyone knows where to find elegant croses (not fsl) or ornamental designs that are Church related. Have looked at the common places and haven't found anything, thought maybe a cuties somewhere could give me a clue where to look,
TIA
hugs
Michelle

You probably are looking for large designs that will show up from a distance, right? Anna Bove Embroidery has a set of 5x7 Christian symbols. I have used the JHS Cross and the JHS Cross Frame and both stitched out beautifully. They were part of a set several years ago and still are, but the set now for sale on the website has more designs than the one I bought. The two designs I used are available as singles, however, as are others.

There's a free design on the page for you to try their designs.

Michelle, If you are looking for proper liturgical fabrics, try www.maryjos.com - a huge fabric store in Gastonia, NC. I've seen the four seasonal colors, plus Mary blue, plus some gold on gold and black with gold, that may be specific to Orthodox or Catholic. Also some beautiful fabrics for stoles. They ship and have an 800-toll free phone number, quite used to giving detailed help over the phone and through the mail. If you own any Anita Goodesign embroidery designs, they buy almost all fabric and trims there, as its almost local to them. Best of luck with your project - what an honor.

Also, Robert Moore and Co. in Mobile Alabama, 888-661-5252, has a room full of gorgeous European vestments (stoles and robes). (He's a good Catholic.) They may have a leaflet they would be willing to send directly to your church. It's an experience just to see them! Not featured much on the website, which mostly features their Christmas decorations.

Sew Forum member, Kathleen Robinson, makes liturgical vestments as her occupation. She has many few religious designs for free. Here is a link to her posts. Just click on the name of the design under her name on the right side of the page.
