OK heres what i been working on today .I have never did machine quilting cause it sews each stitch three times so here you be the judge .one on the machine took me 4 hours and many hooping ,the swans took me 15 minutes by free hand .
Which do You like best???These both started with a 14 inch square hugs

They look almost the same.You can get a lot more done and much faster by hand. I think you have more patience than i would have.

I think the one by machine is too tight. It could be opened up and take a lot less time. Quilting is basically to keep the layers together, too much makes like a board. I like the look of the free hand but it too could be opened up also. I am not sure how to tell you how to do that maybe the lady's that do designs can explain better. But then this is my two cents and you do what you like. :)

They are both awesome!! The 15 minute one looks terrific, so if you are short on time, I would do that one..the many hoopings would be so time consuming, but looks great, too.......

Hi Carolyn, I much prefer the Swan one as I feel the top ones ( the green fabric ) have too much stippling on it and it detracts from the fabric. Are they men on tractors? I'm not sure. Love Chris

You did the best job not the machine. I feel like lost in the tiny maze of the machine one. Picture 10 I thought had a button hole .... Just to left of paper cut out, but it is part of the country scene lol. Guess I got lost in the maze. So I agree the swans are easy to see and enjoy.

I like the swan best as it doesn't look as heavily stitched..I really like the idea of the time.. you answered what I had wondered about in the time difference.. I will just have to learn to stipple. Thank you very much for the direction pictures.. You always seem to top yourself.. Go Girl

I think you did an excellent job quilting on your own. The machine looks like it did a more compressed stipple. The way you folded your paper is the same way I got the same for my table topper. Mine just has more of an "S" curve. For mine I took the wedge shape you have pictured here and figured out where I wanted my embroidered design on it and marked it. Then I laid this wedge on my fabric and marked it prior to hooping. That is how I got my placement for the heart table topper. Hugs, Susan
