Jelly roll project - this was a Moda "Wrens and Friends" jelly roll. I made the runner first and quilted it in the ditch after sewing the strips together. I made a second length for the placemats, but quilted as I went along. I cut that into slices to make the mats.<br /><br />

I prefer the "quilt as you go" but the first time I tried it, I had to unpick it after a few strips as it was veering off to the side. It was amazing how being a degree or so off at the start made such a difference!
