If Carolyn's suggestion doesn't work, try adding wording to cover it up

Soak an old, separate cloth in hydrogen peroxide. Place it over the scorch mark. Iron the two pieces of fabric with an iron set on low. Continue to do it until the scorch mark disappears or lightens.

Place the item in cold water if you notice the scorch marks immediately after they occur. Leave it in the cold water for at least 24 hours and then launder as you normally would.

Moisten a soft cloth with white vinegar. Rub it into the scorch mark and then rub a cloth soaked in cold water over the scorch mark. Continue until the scorch mark disappears or lightens. Some people will soak a cloth in white vinegar, place it over the scorch mark and then iron lightly over the scorch mark to remove it.

Put cold water over the area where the scorch mark is and liberally sprinkle cornstarch over the stain. Brush or vacuum the cornstarch off.

Try soaking white items in bleach to get rid of scorch mark.

Tips & Warnings
These methods may not fully get rid of the scorch marks, though they should lighten them.

Oh, Loralye, I hate when something like this happens.....like others, I would try some words...it is a great design and nicely stitched......

You see what happened is this: My iron has some black stuff on it & the day before I was trying to clean it with a Magic Eraser well while cleaning I inadvertently put it on linen setting & then today when I went to use I did not check the setting first! I normally use cotton & don't change but I guess I moved it while I was cleaning it. Live & learn. On a brighter note it really did clean my iron it has no more black gunk on it. I really don't do a lot of fusable so not sure what or why the black stuff but either way it is off now. I thank you all for your help & suggestions. Right now it is soaking in the vinegar so hoping that will help. thanks to all & *** ~hugs~

Take it to your Dry Cleaning Service. They have something that takes the scorch marks out.

The lemon juice seems to making it lighter. But I am not sure if this is because I have tried the vinegar & then the peroxide on top of that & not the lemon, either way I can finally see that it is getting lighter so I think it can go in the washer. I think I should not put it in the dryer as that will set it or @ this stage does it really matter?

it looks fine looks like the heat from the bbq x
