I often alter the size of a design using my PE8 design softwear. Usually the stitch size increases as I enlarge the design but today I have been playing with 2 redwork designs. After each design is enlarged in the redwork the stitch count has decreased considerably which strikes me as a little odd. Please does anyone have any ideas of what is happening and how I increase the stitches. I should have phoned the sewing machine shop to ask but its now too late tonight. Thanks and flowers for answers

Sorry Caroline but this is a little advanced for my little brain. I will have a read of my manual later and have a play with some redwork designs in the morning. You never know, I may stumble on something.

The lower stitch count while you enlarged the design can only be a result of the stitch length having been increased. Does PE8 have a setting for stitch length?

Mops I don't have your technical know how but you have given me something to work on so thanks. I have just had a quick look but its 11pm so I will check out what I have found tomorow
It's 0131 here and I'm plowing through the manual.

I have found this also. It usually happens when I try to do a function more than once. The best results is one move when adjusting size of a design. It is unfortunate that the size cannot be adjusted by inputting a number while keeping the aspect ration. Maybe off the subject slightly, however, the only way I know to get an exact size is to zoom in and have the grid mm set to a really small number(forget now what I used).

Hmmm, not sure about PE8, but in Ver. 9, you need to hold the Ctrl key down when you resize in order for the program to increase the stitch density when you enlarge or reduce the size of a design...otherwise it will increase the size and not increase the stitches...hope this makes sense...

Well I have tried out the suggestions and nothing has happened to help increase the stitch number. This problem only happens with redwork designs. So if anyone has any other ideas I am happy to have a try.

I haven't been of any help from my trials today but will do some more work again tomorrow.

Could it be the stitch type is changing from maybe a triple stitch, bean stitch (not sure of other names of single type stitches) to a single stitch? That would decrease the stitch count. Maybe it doesn't want to keep the original style of stitch. Just a shot in the dark.
