This is what I have been up to for the last couple of weeks ,,,,one of the ladies in our bible study group , (Mickie)was helping me bring the lunch to the table and said Oh what a beautiful picture on your calendar ,could I please have the page when its done I loves horses ,I told her she could take it now ,but Mickie said she would wait ,till May when I turn the page ,I thought I could do more than just a picture on a calendar ,so here is what I have come up with.I was given the horse panels ,ages ago, and wondered what I would do with them , what I told the ladies in my quilting class about making the quilt and Mary offered me a bag or horse fabric to choose from ,I chose the one in the first outside border ,The others fabrics came from my stash ,I haven't put the binding on yet ,,,I don't know if I should use black or the yellow for the binding ,,, what do you think? Mickie has been through a lot of health issues over the last few years ,having a breast removed because of cancer ,now her shoulder keeps dropping for the socket and she is is a lot of pain ,I know this will bring her a lot of joy

I know nothing about this kind of think, but the yellow has seemed to add depth to the horse pictures, could you carry that on by using the yellow as the outside. I think this is what I would do, but my opinion...is just that...my opinion. It very beautifully executed, the fabrics are gorgeous, that's why you are the quilter and I'm not.LOL

This is beautiful! We are horse lovers, too. The think the yellow would look great on the sashing....give it a little pop there.

I would use a dark border so it won't draw your eyes away from your center panel.

I would use a dark border so that your eyes would focus on your center panel.

Well being a quilter myself I would use the yellow fabric as it will bring it all together. Having the brighter fabric makes it look like a picture in a frame. Hope it all works out well for you. Love the whole effect, you've done a wonderful job and such a loving gesture. Love Chris

the yellow would work well, I made a pillow for a lady who loved horses from these panals years ago. they are very pretty. This is very nice.

yellow is a strong color maybe you could cut some of the fabric and lay it along the sides and see how it looks before you choose.

Stunning, I am sure she will be more than thrilled.
As for border, my first thought was the colour of inner borders, but as someone suggested put a bit on the side and see what looks best.
Good luck, what a wonderful friend you are!

Love your quilt. I drew on a border in 'Paint'. See if it helps you decide. Please excuse the crooked lines.

I like the black binding. The light one takes away from the rest of the quilt.

I prefer the black as well.

If it is going to be for a male I think black would be better.
I too prefer the black binding. Lovely Quilt

A wonderful gift of self! I'm sure she will be thrilled. YOu could also do the border in the same brown sashing so that it blends instead of standing out? ~hugs~
