This is a purse/bag, I just finished. It is called The Wavy Top Tote by Bethany Rapp, a Sweet Bee Creations pattern. It was a free PDF file and comes in 2 sizes.I made the larger size.I also added the inside divided 3 pockets, on one side of lining. The zip pocket one the opposite inside, was included in the directions.I also wanted to say,the fabric is recycled Waverly valances,I bought at a Thrift shop 2 for $5. I know one was still folded, like from the factory, never opened up.The one I used never looked used, but it had been unfolded.I have enough left to make a smaller one or some wristlets.I just washed and dried before I cut it out.The denim is jeans, left from my denim quilt stach.(I see I need to mist the blue marks out, where I marked it for sewing-lol) The rectangle rings are also re-cycled, from an old discarded purse.I am sure I made it for less than $5. as I got my 2 zippers on sale at Wawak. Not bad,uh?-Toogie..I have added the link, but be sure to get ALL the pdf files.Pattern for sm in one,lg another, instructions another, etc.I also,stipple/free hand motion quilted my print fabric.I was glad for the style of valance, because when I ripped the tacking out where it was brought up,it gave me a lot wider piece of fabric.

Thank you,I was glad to find these new valances.Did you see the original price in the photo?
by joannmeyer 15 Apr 2014
You did an amazing job! I love it! Do you use anything in the bottom of the bag so it will keep it's shape and not sag? Just curious. I have tried several things and nothing seems to work for me.
by highlandermom 15 Apr 2014
The name does it so if anyone hit you up tell them it is at least a 55 dollar purse due to the fabric. I think it is a 100 dollar purse..... it is beautiful Toogie.
by toogie 15 Apr 2014
to joannmeyer-I will get my husband to either cut me a piece of pexiglass(like our rulers are made of) or formica (like thin counter top) to which I will make a slip case, like a pillowcase out of lining fabric for it,to insert inside the bottom. He has these things left over, in his workshop.
by toogie 15 Apr 2014
to highlander-I HAD to use Waverly fabric,it's a Wavy Top Bag-lol-No kidding thanks, glad you like it.

I thought someone here, had made some a while back, and gave us the link then.I must have saved it then too.It can out nice with good instructions.I used a batting and stippled mine, instead of fusible fleece and I interfaced my lining with cut-a-way.

Oh I do have a question, do you add any kind of stiffener to the fabric on the bag?
by toogie 15 Apr 2014
I used batting in between the blue print and the curtain lining, which was white.I then free motion quilted it.The only other thing that I used,is cut-a-way with the 2 lining pieces, same size as lining.I used some batting and just a 1in cut a way in the handles,to give some padding,so they wouldn't dig into my arm/shoulder.I also used cut-a-way in between my pocket and pocket lining, divided in 3.She doesn't have this on her pattern,it is something I personally added for me, you know, for glasses, shades, etc.
by sewilso 16 Apr 2014
Thank you Toogie, I didn't even see the free motion quilting till you said that. It is very pretty! I bet you'll get a ton of compliments on it! I have got to do this sometime soon!

That is so nice of you to say.My sister says that about my sewing. She is always wanting me to put something up online to sell, but I don't.I like to sew because it is something I enjoy. If times get hard, maybe then, but I am blest to be able to enjoy this like I do.

Some people get rid of brand new stuff,as in this case with the valances. But you know the old saying,'One mans 'trash' is another mans 'treasure'. It is my opinion,we all need to re-purpose and stop wasting so much.Of cousre,on the other hand,I may not find these good buys-lol
