I can empathize with you. I am still "losing" my place with Explorer!

It sounds to me like you have expanded your view to full screen (?) and you have lost your toolbar (?)...I did this inadvertently...but to tell you the truth, I can't remember what I did to get the "normal" view back, but somehow I did...Perhaps Rescuer will come back and give some direction on how to "fix" the view...

To recover, the toolbar's back and forward buttons on your screen go to folder, open and click on "view tab" option. Go to toolbars and select "standard buttons."
If you have lost your toolbar as well,
Press ALT+V to display the View menu, and then press U to turn off full screen mode.
If the Full Screen toolbar is visible, click Close Full Screen.

F11 is the hot key that expands the page. Try clicking that.
