I need your opinion on the thread painting for the cliff on my son's bedspread project. He is doing the embroidery and we have just started this big project. This is his plan the wizard is to stand on a cliff and the dragon in the air is to be popping out from behind something just can not remember what. There will be another dragon in the upper left hand corner guarding a magic crystal ball. Phoenix flying I think two in the air on the upper right side somewhere.
Should I add more to the cliff now or wait and see what all happens with the rest of the project.
I would play with the placement of all designs by using prints of them before actually stitching them. When all is done you could thread-paint a few things if necessary. Draw what you want to do with dressmakers chalk (easily removed) and see if that improves the whole scene. A simple example: a few lines as the dragon's flight paths might tie all elements together. Given the wonderful ideas you and your son have I am sure you'd come up with something stunning!
