Cuties,you know how I like to shop.I like nice things,but I'm not too proud, to get them at a discount or thrift shop.You remember that blue and white Waverly fabric, I got at the thrift shop a few weeks back, and made that Wavey Top tote? Well,I went there today and got all this for $12.!!!!The snowman,applique quilt was $2.(it smelled so good,but I did come home and wash), the brown Haggar pants,for hubby was $3. BUT if you buy 1 pc of clothing you get another one FREE,so I got my Alfred Dunner jacket free! I'm wearing it Saturday,to my grandsons wedding shower.Then there was, of course, some fabric,5 yards of black with shiny silver for $3.You see that blue fleece with black on it with a handle? It is a fleece throw,that folds up and velcros together for carrying.I thought it would be good to take to the hospital, when you are sitting up with someone.It was a whole dollar and still had the tag on it.-lol-And last,but especially not least,is the white, cutwork table cloth that I spent $2. on! It was in a box with the snowman quilt,so I am assuming it came from the same place,because it smelled good too.-For the 6 items my total,with tax was $12.and some change ,which she told me $12.was good! I told her it sure was!-lol-..........Now who wants to go shopping with me????-Toogie

You are so right! Thrifting is great, I went awhile back and got 3 like new pairs of dress pants, perfect for Sundays and thought I had won the lottery. It was the best haul I'd made in a while. The last time I went I got some really quality cotton fabric with the tag on it from JC Penny's when they use to have fabric. I'll go with you anytime you want. It's such fun :)))) These are beautiful by the way. How can you have Frosty and family if noah has them in her freezer???? LOL

It sounds like you hit the jackpot! I enjoy the "thrill of the find" especially at thrift shop and flea market prices. Today my finds were a new blue apron, some zippers and a sewing table.

lol! You sound just like me. You just never know what you may find. I love it when I find fabric especially, even scrappy pieces, they are perfect for making appliques or mug rugs, pot holders etc.
Last time I went I got my oldest granddaughter some brand new shorts with tags for 50 cents a pair. Some thrift stores are cheaper than others, the goodwill and salvation army stores in towns close to me have gotten too expensive so don't bother to go in as much anymore, but sometimes have other shops that are better prices. Keep up the great work, love seeing posts like that!

Thanks,I find too,that Goodwill is more than these church ran thrift stores,and it's sad.I love finding good deals.My blue white bag is going to my SIL,but I showed it to my SS class, and one lady wanted to buy it on the spot.No one knew about my fabric find.
lol! It is truly a good deal, no one needs to know. It was new, l like to repurpose a lot these days, too much waste in the world as we know it, and you never know what kind of treasures can be made with it.
I have a friend that sometimes we go together.She doesn't sew or craft,poor thing-lol- Anyway,she tells me I am the only one she knows, that looks at an item not for what it is,but what it could be.

I like tablecloths, and peticularly cutwork,too. I thought it was for a circle table but it is oblong,so that's good as I have a circular one.
I love cutwork tablecloths, also. I took a 70 inch round one, used, but really nice, and cut in half. Serged the cut edge, so would not ravel. Then made into curtains for my bathroom. Sew Pretty. I centered the design so it was on the bottom curve.
Good idea,grannieannie.This one is so white and in very good shape.It was hardly used or well taken care of,no stains,or anything.

Toogie my friend went to a flea market and brought me 80 skeins of yarn said she gave 20.00 for it sure a find . half of it was eyelash yarn and that stuff is high the lady told her she wanted 50. cents a peace for it Lynne told the lady I am not going to stand here and count it out will you take 20 for it box and all and the lady said yes it was in a big plastic storage box.

You and me,both,love a great price.Just one item was well worth the $12. I've seen these jackets at JCPennys and I can tell you,they were more than that....I wish the other photos would show up.

My husbands pants,1 of the photos that won't show,still had all the orginal tags on.I wanted you to see $60. versus $3..now tell me which you would rather give.The one here is only Wed but I went to next town 15 miles and got these.My car gets about 40 mpg so I don't think I did bad.

Hit two thrifts today - Got three N. Zieman books for $4.25. I adore your jacket and it's super for wedding fun. Glad you hit it big!
My older son got embarrassed about me getting his clothes at the thrift when he hit Junior high school. He said, what will I tell my friends when they ask where I got these jeans? I told him, say, I don't know my Mom got them! They get so touchy at that age. Back then, Polo shirts were in for boys and they were $33 at the department store. I told him he could have Polo shirts in every color I could find them in at the thrift ($3 each), as long as there was no fading or corner tears on the placket. That year, he had 10! Life is grand.

The jacket is for the shower, not the wedding,haven't decided yet exactly what I will wear then, but I do like it.I stay cold,even in summer I have a problem in air-conditioning sometimes,so I always need a jacket....The story of your teaching your son that he can still look good and not put the family in the poor house,is good.Imagine you got all those shirts for less than one! I am sure by the time the were laundered and pressed,no one knew the difference.

You're lucky...most of the second hand stores here check eBay and charge big prices for things even will print out the eBay picture with the asking price. Also have many antique dealers here and they come and put high prices on the jewelry & furniture. Sometimes I'm lucky and find something they haven't gotten to yet for under $10.00 but not to often.<br /><br />

Another weird thing that gets to me I have a 15 year old car and barely make enough to live on and when I pull into the second hand stores have to park next to Huge SUV's (nice & new), Audi's, BMG's, Mercedes etc. seldom do I see older cars like mine...really...can't those people shop in stores and pay full price and leave some things for people like me that are struggling and have almost nothing? Maybe that's why they shop the thrift stores,to save to pay for the nice cars,but I doubt it, if they are driving those models.I have a fairly new car,a Honda, but it's because I am careful with my spending and I needed it.My Toyota is a '98.....I only had a thought like yours one time.I saw a woman there that day, who can well pay, whatever the price.Her husband has made his fortune in oil rights.Two ,her husband and another guy,donated over a millon to have a new church built, and there she was shopping along side me,in a thrift shop!

What a great deal! I love shopping at the thrift store! I started when my boys were small and outgrowing everything each month! lol I haven't been in awhile since Maurice's accident in January but as soon as we get another car, I'm off! What a bargain you got! Love the tablecloth! it's beautiful! I'd love to go shopping with you anytime!

Hi Meri,This was my second time here and I was pleased at my finds, both times.The church-ran one here, doesn't have as nice items,and is overpriced,for a thrift.I said they seem greedy and everything they have to sell,has been donated, so except for a 4 day a month electric bill,it is almost 100% profit.
