flip doll with 6 pages, very easy to make, hard to put together, the centre is very thick, I did it one page at a time, my normal non cumputer machine was the best, trying to think of more not many nursery rhymes with lots people...wendy

Love this, we had a similar doll when I was young but each page focused on a skill, button, zipper, lace up, snap, buckle. The sky is the limit for adaptations to fit whatever your child's age range. Great Job working with so many layers.
If you are tempted to do this but were concerned about the thick joining area, I was trying to think of a way around that problem.. If the book pages were separate from the doll and the book buttoned to the doll so using old McDonald's buttons on his overalls could then be where the story book joined the doll either with buttons or with snaps. If doing a nursery rhyme the button snaps could be flowers or in twinkle twinkle then they could be star buttons, anyway just some ideas for those who may want to also attempt these fabric storybooks that would for sure become treasured family heirlooms.

the pages become a new doll, when I readthe inst. I thought I would have to keep the pages upright somwhow but with the curve of the doll they stay and look like a new doll, if they were seperate like you say I dont think they would stay up right, just have to keep thinking...wendy,
You would just put the new face on the other side of the page, so for your book the back side of the overalls would be the chicken head, just like you already have. So basically each page turn would give you a new person or animal but the pages hide the doll face. You could choose to make the doll a character in the story or the doll could be a child reading the story.

been thinking maybe I could hem both sides with a piece of fabric inserted in the hem so there would only be 6 pieces of fabric,I will try next time...wendy

at the web site prudentbaby (up the top) I got the general idea from them and added my own designs, the second one I did was a lot easier to put together, I put the background fabric in the hoop no stabilizer, so when put together it was not so thick sewed straight away....wendy
