Knitting for a change. I found 4 cones of very thin yarn (a variety of fibres) in my machine knitting stash. I wound them together and came up with this. The cable and lace panels make it look much more difficult than it was!

Boy, Sue, you're not kidding when you say it looks difficult...I did my first cabling a few months ago and didn't realize how much fun it could be......this sweater is sure beautiful! Terrific workmanship!

Sue, did you hand knit this or use a knitting machine? Either way it's simply stunning. Love Chris

Hand knit. I gave my (very basic) surviving machine away a few weeks ago, but I did keep some yarn.
by pennifold 23 May 2014
How long did it take you to knit this up Sue? Love Chris
by spendlove 23 May 2014
About 6 weeks.
by pennifold 23 May 2014
Wow, that is amazing. Do you cast on with one hand and a knitting needle, or two needles and do you knit into the back of the stitch? Love Chris
by spendlove 23 May 2014
Two needles. Front or back varies according to mood!

I love it. I wound three strands of the thin yarns I was given and find it takes a lot of concentration to knit all of them and not leave one. You id a beautiful job with 4!
When I came home yesterday my neighbour had added another box of yarn and 3 bolts of fabric for me - you give them the key to water your plants and see what happens ... LOL

I had to laugh at your make it look more difficult than it is.. Looks to me like it was difficult enough just keep all the patterns straight, as to when to change to which one..
Beautiful sweater ..

PS: Sure the sweater is on hanger just for pict.. but you need to make some of those fancy 'paddings' with embroidery to put on a hanger edge.. You are always coming up with such neat thing , here is you another to work on ;-)
by spendlove 24 May 2014
LOL (The sweater is now folded in my wardrobe and the hanger is naked.)

Fabulous! You did this with a knitting machine? I did not know you could increase decrease with knitting machine.

You can do (almost)anything with a knitting machine although garter stitch is a challenge. I did this by hand.

I often wind different cones of fine yarn together using an electric wool winder, different shades together look great! Love your sweater!
