Good luck with it all Caroline. I don't sell at fairs, but love buying things! I look for personal items, mainly cosmetic, eye glass cases, usb covers, pin cushions. Being a sewer anything of course to do with sewing and of course things for my kitchen, towels, coffee mats, etc. etc. I hope someone comes along soon with their ideas.

Every fair is different, but bags usually sell well. I sold a lot of ITH children's purses at an event at our Village School last year.

I have found the ith tissue cases are always in demand especially with a little charm added to the zip pull, I have done them with a butterfly embroidered on and added a few gems on the feelers and wings. You can always charge a little more for bling !!!!

Every show is different. I concentrate on making "useful" thing - I figure people might be more likely to buy something they can use. Tissue holder, zipped cases, sanitizer holders, badge holders. I also have a selection of baby things - toys, bibs/burps, taggie blankets - babies are soft spots for many people. Good Luck!

The perfect question. I go to our Farmers Market on Saturday mornings. But I don't see much moving. I think they buy more around a holiday like Christmas. I too was wondering, especially in other parts of the US and other Countries. I live in New Mexico USA. I have never entered a craft fair. Maybe some day.

I think the embroidered Toilet Paper sells well as you can make them fast and cheap then decorate with clear saran & ribbons. Maybe ITH hairclips, small quick to make. Kitchen towels, chap stick covers....I think you want fast simple items that you can sell at a reasonable price. Don't go overboard and try to make things that are time consuming and you have to sell at a high price. Maybe check Embroidery Libraries projects and see if something pops out to you. Good luck.

pcteddy has said it well. @least for me that is what went well. People have babies all year long so they are always on the look out for the perfect baby item & you can't really find a lot of home made baby things. When I think back to my baby gifts the homemade knitted sweater sets & dresses are the ones that I have kept all these years. best of luck with the sale! ~hugs~

As you said it is at the start of the summer holidays, what about things to keep children busy at a rainy day? Finger puppets, pencil cases with crayons or roll-up holders for brushes, beach bags (yes, I know, rainy days, but you can use them going to the local swimming pool as well).

I have never done a show, however I am anxiously waiting to find out your results!

Did you collect any of the peg cozies (cute felt covers for clothespin/peg magnets) that were the rage a while back? They are fast and inexpensive to make - and so man cute designs!

I have just done my first two, I think it depends on the area you are selling in as to what people are going to buy. i noticed not only my stall but on the other craft stalls the things that selling the most was thing that people needed rather than the nice gifts, baby things are always needed and sell well, I made some "sew it your self" things for the children.I used some of Sue's hand puppets very quick to stitch out, one front and one back ready to be sewn together in a bag. hope this helps.
