Today is is a public holiday in Belgium, and I so hoped to do some sewing. But the weather thought otherwise about it.
In the early morning we got such bad weather, lots of rain and lots of big hail. Result ; roof and front of car is now a "wave plate" and front window is broken too. My complete garden is ruined. I have no flowers anymore, the trees have hardly leaves, the raspberries are gone... I too have some damage at my house.. So we have been busy whole morning cleaning out the garden. And tomorrow we will inform the insurance.. we will see what that gives.. The weather forcast for this night gives doesn't look any better. More hails (biggers ones like before) and lots of rain. Hope it will not be in my neighbourhood. Putting some images..

Oh my, I for some reason (dummy me) didn't think any where but in the mid USA got hail that size. Hope your insurance takes care of your damages and no one was hurt. take care.

Yes, that comes under the category "we only believe what we see on our news channels." I don't think of such storms as occurring anywhere but in the USA. I do remember hail one time while I lived in Texas far bigger than softballs. The damage was horrible, but it was funny while it was happening. It fell so fast and hard that it was bouncing up off my grass, which gave the impression that it was hailing UP, not DOWN. I also experienced mudballs in Texas twice in twelve years. (A dust storm concurrent with rain. Big splats of mud hit your windshield and all you can do is ease off the gas and pull over as there is zero visibility.

So sorry to hear of the damage you have suffered with the bad weather. We had a bad hail storm about a week ago (out of the blue), and I was afraid my garden would not make it through. But so far, so good. I covered everything and waited for the skies to clear. Hope you get things cleaned up and protected before the next round of hail. Good luck.

Oh my goodness!!! Insurance should cover hail damage & water damage that comes DOWN! Not ground water or flood unless you have flood insurance. Good luck!! Hope you remain safe!

I think that same storm came to England this afternoon. We just saw a huge amount of rain but there was giant hail and flooding only 3 miles away.

Oh My! Sometimes "mother nature" is not kind. I hope you do not suffer more damage. We had a "micro burst" a couple of years ago, trees were down all over town and roofs were damaged. We had damage to our roof and needed a new one. It took 2 years for our insurance provider to cover some of the cost and finally we got a new roof! Needless to say, we are no longer with that provider! Good luck!

We had small hail yesterday and as it begun I pulled in all the potted plants and covered as many other plants that I could find suitable containers for. I even dumped a partially filled trash can to save a plant! lol! I am so glad it was not big like the ones you got hit with. The late freeze took out all the apples and lilacs.

It is heartbreaking to see all that damage. I hope you will get some help from the insurance company, but some things are just not replaceable.

Isn't nature powerful?! I've never experienced hail stones that large. Is this kind of weather normal in your area? I hope your insurance will cover the damage without giving you any grief. Is it too late for your flowers to rebloom? Sometimes when it rains really hard here, the blossoms get washed away but the flowers come back out again. Good luck with everything!!

Just a quick note before I go to work : last night was ok, lots of rain and hail but nothing got damaged. The "problem" area was now more to the south of Belgium. Lost of trees over there so I guess people and firemen will have plent to do to clean up

Dear Linda - I have only just seen this post. Very pleased to read that there was not so much damaging hail last night. When I lived in Johannesburg we would also get hail as large as that and I know how terrifying it can be. Love and hugs Sarah
