As you see on my project for my princess I have sew my embroideries on my knitting. Is it possible to embroider directly on a knitting which is knitted with big wool, I do not dare to do that?

I would not like to do that either. I think your solution to make a badge is ideal. And one can easily remove it too.

Do you make a test square to check and see if you are using the correct size needle to make the size come out correctly? If so, just take that square and pin it on some stabilizer (cut-away) and embroider a test sample and see what happens.;)

Great idea. You could then save the test square with the embroidery for future reference.

If you were to make a test stitch out ,use water soluble stabilizer on top.But I don't think it would work very successfully on thick wool. The stitches of the knitting would be too loose to hold the embroidery. What you have done with the patch is probably a better idea. You could always hand embroider something on the jumper....hahaha.
