He was very brave to get up in front of other people and play his violin. He gets an A+ on that alone. I am sure he did his very best.

Congratulations to Ben. I remember this stage of parenting but it was with a cello and from day 1 it sounded good. The violin takes a while to sound good with a learner. Is Georgie learning to play a instrument too?

She's right about the sound. My DH plays many, many stringed instruments and when he thought he'd learn the violin, I threatened divorce. It only lived at my house for 2 weeks. He should have gone somewhere else to practice, I said.

I have learned violin for 2 years as a child. The first 3 month I did not get my bow and had just to learn put the fingers in the right position (I'm sure all neighbours were happy about this). I must be a talented player cause I never trained and unpacked my violin the way I have packed her in the case the week before. Got through all compositions and my teacher was really unlucky when I said that I quit. But you know how stubborn kids can be if they don't wanna do something. Now I regret that I give it up so quick...
Ben is brave to stand there and play just from his memory (I see no music stand). Hope he can encourage his sister. Maybe by giving little private family-concerts?

Ben looks so handsome in his suit and is so concentrated on playing his instrument. Kudos to him for being brave and to the audience who were all smiling during this.

He looks adorable. Listening to the practice of someone trying to learn to play the violin is not easy, but how else are the to become the accomplished musician creating wonderful sounds? Hats of to your daughter and I hope Ben will love playing this instrument for years to come.

This is wonderful, being a musician myself(piano & organ) I have preached music, music music to all my children and their children. A music scholarship put 1 grand daughter all the way through the University of Ala.(4 yrs.) The kids have always pushed sports but not a single G. kid got a sports scholarship to University. They give way more music scholarships than sports. Few ever get to be professional in sports, many enjoy music all their lives. That G. daughter now has her Phd and is a H.S. Librarian, her bro. has his Phd and is a prof. at west Alabama University. It thrills my soul to see them start like this at a young age. Congratulations Ben. Screech away. You'll make believers out of them after all grandmother Sarah is on your side.Lillian

He's adorable. Yes, violin takes lots of time and practice. I played for 15 years and I'm surprised the family put up with the sound.

Dear Sarah, how proud you must be and I'm so happy as I know what he's been through. Kudos to him and to Charlotte for allowing the twins to learn Violin. Listening to someone play a violin always brings tears to my eyes. It has such 'soul' I feel and it just touches some deep part of me and moves me. I hope Ben continues to improve with every lesson.

Good for your little one! He is very brave to 'stand alone' without his twin and SHINE. Because of his considered 'disabilities' he needs an area to be the STAR. I wish him the best of luck and if it sounds as awful as your daughter says tell her to do like I did when kids came and played their version of music...heavy metal...or rap...I just put in ear plugs. paste a smile on my face and enjoy! :)
