I saw this on the news, a dress made from rubber bands that sold on ebay in the United Kingdom. Wow!

It sold for £170,100, plus £7.00 postage."

Loom bands are so popular here in UK at the moment and some of the creations are fabulous.

We have the bands in the states, but I can't say I've seen anyone make things with them. I bet google could tell me. A couple of my grandkids wore them plus I've seen them on the younger generations at work. It would be interesting to see what all they are making for sure.

I have been reading about it during the past week. A labour of love to produce such a thing.

Making things with rubber bands can be addictive. I had a craft for VBS making little butterflies out of the bands with a crochet hook. I have no use for little rubber band butterflies, but I wanted to keep making them. They are cute.
My 33 year old daughter makes things for her children at school and while we were at a baseball game, she made a little rubber band copy of the team's mascot. Nothing on the scale of a dress however, that was impressive.

I bought a basic kit yesterday and looked up some videos on YouTube. I've just made a bracelet like the teenagers are wearing!

I loved that story. I'm a big fan of ebay anyway. I had to look up the money equation and if my calculations are correct....that is about $289,016 in US dollars!! Zowie!! Crafts could pay off! But I think it's probably all a hoax as many bidders had never bought on ebay before. We shall see. The craft store people LOVE it when a craft takes off like that. Some 25 years ago when I had a store, mop dolls were very popular...I loved them!!! And yes...they were really made from mops (new ones!) So the bands are great for a while. Then on to something new. I'll stick with my embroidery now.
Thanks for the article.

Unfortunately the winning bidder has not paid so the dress has gone back on ebay. I have just had a look on ebay UK and there are a number of loom band dresses for sale
