Does anyone have a Babylock Sashiko machine. I didn't know they existed, but I've just watched a YouTube video (or two) and I'm fascinated. I'm not sure if they are available here in UK, but I think they will be at the Festival of Quilts next month.

Maybe Karen? She talked about the machine and what it did back in 2010 when it came out.

Here is one using decorative stitches and a special bobbin case I think you could get the look of Sashiko stitches.

I have the Babylock sashiko machine and love it. I use it for machine quilting. The stitches look like hand quilting. Stitch length and spacing can be adjusted. Have done several quilts with it. In the USA Babylock ran a special 50% off sale when I got it.

Babylock has had the Sashiko machine for several years. Try going on the Babylock website and see if it is for sale in the UK.

The shashiko embroidery designs are pretty good if you add batting in between blocks they give a nice effect...maybe try some of the free ones available, you could probably digitize some fairly easily.

I'm afraid I won't make it this year. It would have been great to meet you.
