An iron is a tailoring tool. You press open seams, press down darts and put it away till you sew again. Been trying to teach that to my sister for 30 years - she even irons blue jeans and t shirts and nighties!

well ladies I have no idea what this is Knitwit classes but seems to me I have heard the saying here on cute before so I guess it was sewing classes?

Loralye, Knitwit was a 'franchise'? that originated in Australia, if I am correct. It had its own dressmaking patterns, gave detailed classes, sold their exclusive materials of a high standard, and afforded many ladies (I can vouch for South Africa) the opportunity to acquire additional sewing skills and also in pattern designing. They produced many standard/basic patterns which were invaluable. I for one really enjoyed and beneftitted from their classes and Club Days. I still have some beautiful dresses in my cupboard that I made whilst engaged with Knitwit. Perhaps some Australian Cuties can tell us if Knitwit is still in existence there. One thing I will always remember, and apply when it is relevant, is that Knitwit taught us that you ' never make a FLOP, you make a CREATION'. A very hand standby! Patricia
