Thank you all for the concern and good wishes. It was an earthquake 5.3 on Richter scale with the epicentre roughly 200 km from Pretoria. No damage here but a death, damaged buildings and broken windows in close proximity to the epicentre in Orkney, Free State. It certainly gave me a BIG scare where I was working in the garden! Living in California and have lived through a few I know how scary that is. I am glad you are OK.

Now confirmed as 5.5. Reports of damage coming in from the affected areas and was experienced very widely. Even in Zimbabwe. Earthquakes of this magnitude are uncommon in South Africa.

Thank the Lord you and yours are alright. They are scary, I've been in a small 4+ quake several years ago and that's enough for me... if I shake rattle and roll I want to be the one controlling it! :-P

Apparently it was a 5.5 tremor. I was working om my bed, and it was shaking a lot! Scary...

I have never felt an earthquake, and can only imagine how scary that would be!
