Good morning all! Once again I have another question about a machine. I'm now looking at the Brother PE770. I know the machine comes with a few designs and fonts but will I have to get more software right away? What kind of software do you suggest for the PE770? Thanks again!

Good afternoon, your last posting brought some great replies which I enjoyed reading very much. The Brother softwear is PE design and designs are in PES for Brother. I have PE 8 design as I bought it when I got my first machine. I use my softwear when ever I use my machine but there will be many here without softwear who embroider very well without softwear. You will be able to embroider without softwear. There are a number here who have Embird. I think that now you need to sit back and see what comments you get from this posting. If you are buying a machine from a dealer you might be able to get a offer on PE design. Just keep asking the questions and you will get the replies. You will love machine embroidery it is highly addictive

Good morning from Florida. I have PE770 and when I bought it, I bought PE Design... which I used once or twice I simply loaded designs that I bought or freebies to a thumb drive and stitched away. I did simple lettering with the built in fonts. Then I bought Embird.... which I love and use like crazy.

btw.... if you decide that you will buy the PE770 and want PE Design, you can have mine. PM me if you are interested.

As long as you have a USB port on the Machine you do not need to BUY another software. You might want to download some of the free ones like Truesizer to convert files, but for the beginning I think you would need nothing else but a flash drive.

Eventually you may want to buy Monogram Wizard or something similar for digitizing names and monograms. It can probably wait a bit till you get your next stash of cash put up. What you need now is colors, lots of colors, if this is your first machine. If you need to prioritize at $7.00 per spool, start with black, cream, white, maybe pastels (for baby stuff), and your favorites (for me, pinks), oh, and several greens, light and dark for the flowers you may be stitching. Have fun, Cutie.
