it's me again with a new fruit: can you guess what this is called? It has a very unusual name & is very sweet & yummy. We can only get it in August in Canada so not sure when & where else it is available......

I'm thinking it looks like a pluot? I love them but they can be rather costly here in the USA but that's ok cause it's just me and dh and I figure I'm worth it. Hugs..Carol

I'm going to check out that little tag that comes with the bag as I saw they are also called dinosaur eggs here in the states. The stores list them as pluots but I;m going to check out the small print. But, regardless of the name they are so yummy I can eat 2 o r3 day. Hugs..Carol

I love learning about new things & this here is called a dinosaur egg YEP that's what it is called here & there is only one place in town that has them & we can only get them this time of year. I see that Carol has called them a pluot a new name for me & yes they are costly here too but like her there is only me & hubby & he won't eat them lol A lovely treat. I hope I have inspired someone to try something new to eat !

I was thinking they might be Grapples before I read they were pluot. Be sure to check out the grapples if your store has them. They are a wonderful combination of apples and grapes! If you leave them in a bowl they make the most delicious room freshener. I think they are a certain kind of apple grown in grape juice????

They are delicious... a hybrid of plum and apricot.
"Dinosaur Egg" is the proprietary name of a pluot from a specific breeder.
