Well Gals, I've made my Sewing machine caddy. We all got a piece of that purple fabric from Meg and this is my effort. I've put on 4 machine embroidered designs, one each for the things I use. The first pocket will be for the threads from the machine when I cut them off. The second one is for items I use for the sewing machine, the third pocket is for pins, needles and scissors and the last pocket has extra things like the tweezers, the purple thang, extra usb's etc. I really like it and will make another one for my Brother machine. Love Chris

Forgot to mention the first design of the sewing machine is from Smart Needle and the other 3 designs are from Bunnycup and the set is on sale at the moment 12 designs for $10.00 and in two sizes. I'm a bit disappointed with the sewing machine from Smart Needle as it missed a bit of edging near the top and lower section under the needle, never mind, maybe the design moved, I'm not sure if it was knocked or not. The Bunnycup designs stitched out beautifully. Love Chris

Gerry they are so quick to make if you don't embroider them.
We just cut two pieces of fabric 23" square
one piece of wadding 23" x 11" to insert into the top section where the machine sits
a piece of contrast fabric 23" x 11" folded over lengthwise making a strip 5 & 1/2 inches by 23" (for the pocket section)
one piece of wadding 23" by 5 & 1/2 inches to stiffen the pocket section
Step one, prepare the pocket section by folding over lengthwise, marking where you want the pockets.
Insert the wadding and stitch it onto the right side of the main front piece at the place where you marked the pockets.
Turn the front over to the wrong side and pin the (23x11") machine base wadding to the wrong side.
With the main front right side facing you, pin the backing to the front, right sides together and stitch a 1/2 " seam all the way around the whole square Leaving a four to six inch opening in one side, (between where the machine base lining ends and the top of where the pocket section starts).
Turn organiser right side out, finish off the opening then run a topstitch, 1/2 inch from the edge, all the way around.
Sounds more complicated than it is but I can tell you, once you have a sewing organiser under your machine, you will wonder how you ever lived without it.

Thanks Meg, those instructions are great. Love Chris
by toogie 12 Aug 2014
Thanks Meg for the measurements and instructions, making it so much easier to get started. You know what I have for my serger? Here in the USA some curtain panels or sheet sets come in a zippered clear plastic or vinyl. I have my front feet sitting on the flap and the plastic makes it easier to get the trims from threads/fabrics out, to empty. I thought this clear stuff would be work on the front of your cover and on the inside pockets, what do you think? Chris your organizer came out GREAT.
by meganne 13 Aug 2014
OH Toogie that is so clever of you, I have never thought to use those plastic bag thingies.
I think plastic would be great as a pocket lining but it is such a pain to sew and I couldn't imagine embroidering on it.
I'll look forward to seeing what you come up with. hugs n love, Meg

Simple and elegant just like you Girlfriend! :-)
by lbrow 10 Aug 2014
Pauline that is not a good idea. You're work is always supurb what ever it is
by asterixsew 10 Aug 2014
But that is part of the fun that with the same designs and fabrics that the end results are different. Pauline your interpretation is yours and yours alone, just as Chris and Meganne have produced something unique too
by pennifold 11 Aug 2014
Thanks Pauline, I just wanted to add the Bias as I told you on Friday it gives a stronger finish to the top area. As you are putting and pulling your hand in and out so many times it will wear. Love Chris

Looks fabulous Chris, I love your choice of designs.
I knew I'd be the last to get one done but I do have a good excuse as you know, with losing Saturday to a disastrous day of embroidering and Sunday was spent tenpin bowling from 9 am 'til 5 PM in our Northern Country Challenge League.
We bowled 7, five man team matches, and I won 4 of the 6 games I actually bowled. It is such a long day but a day full of fun and laughter with friends I have known for over 20 years.
Maybe I'll find time to do mine this week??? :-)
Hugs n love, me

Thanks for the wonderful comments ladies, I'm in a bit of a hurry today - off to the vet's with Mum's dog at 8.45am and then I'm singing at a dear old friend's funeral at 11.00am - she was 95! (giving up Italian lessons today to attend the funeral). Then off to the Op Shop to help Mum and the other ladies out. I'll post individual answers later. Have a wonderful day everyone. Love Chris
