There was a thread last week about a dress made of loom bands. This is a current craze for children and teenagers here in UK and I'd just bought some to try. Here is my elastic cord made to match the stripes on my wacky reading glasses. Has anyone else done anything with them?

It looks like you made a perfect match. I haven't tried anything but it will be interesting to see what others will do.

Some of the little girls that are friends with my grandchildren make bracelets and necklaces like this.

I'm in my fourth childhood!
I haven't gotten to the loom bands yet, I have just gotten back into loomed hot pads.

I gave each of my granddaughters one of these for Christmas. One of them really keeps herself busy. . I have a lot of bracelets. I should ask her to make this. Very pretty. I don't know about a dress!!
Thank you

I gave them to my GD, last year, but they seem to have them all over at JoAnn's.

I have heard about them and that is it. Google "loom band dress" (no quotes). It is amazing how creative people are getting! Great glasses cord; I should make one for mine. I'm constantly needing them, and they are somewhere else.

Mine to - I keep a pair in every room, but somehow they all end up in the same place!
I've noticed when your not looking they seem to migrate to a different room, but I was sure they were next to my machine a second ago!! maybe I'll get the grands to make me a chain for each of my pairs.. Marian

That is really neat! Your glasses match, how cool is that! My glasses never leave my face, everything is a blur, you lucky girls!

My grandkids just made bracelets, but now I have spent time with them this summer teaching them Kumihimo which is an ancient art of braiding cords for all purposes, necklaces, bracelets, strings for your glasses as you made and even draw strings, shoe strings and thicker ones for bag handles. Imagine a pretty bag with a matching drawstring braid. You can use several strands of the 40wt. embroidery thread as a single string to make it match exactly. Most start out using the cotton embroidery floss. I use cotton crochet thread only because it comes in balls and is easier to contain.
Here is a sample of how easy it is, you can research it there is plenty online to learn. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=suUcFpj4OsA
This is just the start, there are tons more in patterns and method. Look it up on Pinterest for some good examples.
This site shows another simple style for young kids to start, my 5 yr old does these and has fun while the 8 year old does the previous method. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=595xAvXMp0Q

I've made Kumihimo braids for my glasses, but they take a lot longer than with loom bands!

Love this, love the colors too, it will help for finding them when they move themselves to their newest hiding spot! ***FLOWERS***

Sue I love that - is it made from elastic bands? I wear my glasses around my neck the whole time. This would be great and something a little different and strong too.

It certainly is!

My gd's love making bracelets and key chains. During the summer they made a whole bunch of bracelets to sale at their yard sale. Oldest made me a hot pink key chain. Love what you have done. I'll have to put out a hint to the gd's. Hugs...Carol

I'm not sure! There are lots of videos on YouTube. I've made glasses cords like the basic bracelet as well.

Sue, I have not heard of them. I will check out the internet. Might be something to do with the granddaughters when we see them in December. Becky in Arkansas :)
