LOOK WHO'S BACK!!!

They have been flying around the back reserve since the 15th August and so Trev and I took off the cover to the nest. Within a couple of days they were in cleaning it out. If you notice in the first picture you can see the Kookaburra has something in its mouth. The second picture is him/her taking off. I can't wait to see how many eggs the female lays. Love Chris

P.S. We've had rain constantly and last night it bucketed down, so it's nice to know she is clean and dry.

That's the beauty of having this enormous Gum tree in our back yard. The white tray is on our back deck glass panel so you can see how close the tree is to the house!

These birds are carnivorous and eat the young of other birds, mice, snakes, insects and small reptiles. Still wonderful to watch them grow. Love Chris

I have a mouse somewhere in my kitchen...can you send one of these babies to help catch it. Nothing I've tried has worked! Hugs.

What a beautiful time of year for us in the southern hemisphere Chris. We have plovers also starting to get ready for their babies. Unfortunately they do not build nests just lay their eggs under a tree.

It must be fun waiting for the return and then watching over the weeks they are in residence. I have been watching via webcam some ospreys with their family this year. It is amazing how they return to where they have nested before. Nature is wonderful. I am sure your grandchildren will enjoy watching the progress of the family in your back garden (as well as you too)

Yea! I loved the pictures and commentary on them last year. I am looking forward to seeing the progress this year.
