I am 'thinking' of starting the sewing machine cover for my daughter. I have even got as far as buying the material!!
I am going to line it. My question is......if I decide to use batting between the material and lining, should I embroider the outside with the batting in place, or embroider first?

Hi Sarah, I'd embroider it without the batting, unless you were using that as the stabiliser! Love Chris

I'm with Chris
I would embroider without the batting unless you want to give it a quilted look,
good luck

I think it depends what kind of designs you are using. If they are very lightly stitched you could leave the batting in, but definitely not if they are heavier. (I've made that mistake before!)

I too agree with using batting after light or heavy embroidery. If it is more dense design i would stabilize it with cut away.

Thank you for all the help. I will certainly embroider first. Now to find some designs!! Flowers 4 all.
