Well, you should have seen the face on Ophelie today when she saw her dress. It was priceless, and, Jerrilyn you were right! Ophelie has taken her dress home - I told her it was for Christmas but she has a few parties coming up and Amy wants her to wear it. I've bought her a big petticoat that stands out under the dress, so I can just see her dancing in it. I've tried taking pictures of her twirling, bit blurred, but you can get the picture! I've nearly finished Aqualina's just hand sewing the bodice lining down as I write this post. Love Chris

One happy little girl in the very beautiful dress her Nana has made her. I am not surprised that she (and her mum) don't want to wait for Christmas to be able to wear it

Hi Caroline, she certainly was happy with it as was Aqualina yesterday when she saw Ophelie's dress. I explained to Aqualina that hers was a bit different, but she didn't mind. Of course when Ophelie saw Aqualina's dress she wanted stars in hers too!! Kids!!!! I told her I'm not making another one in a hurry! Love Chris

These photos are so precious and tell the story. Look at her glowing with love and pride. She will certainly be the hit of the parties this year. Chris, it was worth every minute of work to make this beautiful dress.

Thanks Karen, I can't wait to see it with the full petticoat under it too. Amy told me there are going to be a lot of her friends who would want one! I hope they aren't expecting me to make them. What I should do is get someone to cut out the swirls, they take to longest to do. Love Chris

So true! She just loved it and of course when she saw Aqualina's hanging up she wanted stars too in her dress. I told her no, I had made hers first and that was what her Mummy asked for. She accepted that answer, thankfully! Then she proceeded to twirl and twirl! Love Chris

Thanks Gerry, yes, I thought the same. We have long summery type days starting soon anyway. Our daylight saving time starts next weekend - the first weekend in October and finishes March next year! So if they can get a lot of wear out of it I'd rather let them wear them now. Love Chris

Hi Sandy, yes, the smile says it all! Well, if you are going to make them I'd suggest you put all the fabrics together and cut them out at the one time! Thanks for the comment about our back deck. I love blue and our whole home is blue and cream. Trevor painted the back in a blue deck paint which actually has a nice sheen to it. Love Chris

Beautiful dress. How much fabric did it take and what type did you use?

by pennifold 25 Sep 2014
You need 2 metres of each fabric! I only ever use cotton for dresses. Our summers are so hot! Love Chris

On the pattern they have all the yardages given for each age up to 12.

Don't be surprised if she still remembers it in 10 or 20 years time. My sister-in-law (20+ yrs older than me) made clothes for my sister and I when Mum was too busy and she was surprised that I could tell her the details of those outfits so many years later. I loved them just as much as Ophelie loves her dress.

Hi Kay, I think we all one dress that we always loved when we were small. My favourite that Nanna made was a pin spot voile it was white with little red spots like tufts all over it. It had puffed sleeves and a sash to tie a big bow at the back. Fond memories indeed, love Chris
