I love your cushion, the bold design and the colours you chose.

It used to be a very popular design in the Netherlands as well, both as a cross stitch designs of used in regional costumes, especially those of the fishing communities, as well as in knitting. I think those fishermen bought sweaters and things in harbours all over the North sea and north Atlantic and their wives incorporated the various designs in their knitting and embroideries. Not many of the cardigans survived but samplers did.
