We had to take Avery to the ER yesterday. Her mom said if it was a virus, she should have been over it by now. Mom was afraid it may be her appendix, since at times right before or right after throwing up, she would scream out in pain. Avery does not cry or scream, unless she is in pain. The Dr saw she has an ear infection, but did blood work and also an xray of bowel, to check for blockage. Everything but the ear checked out normal, so we guess the ear caused the nausea. So right now Karen, if you are reading, she has joined our Dizzy Dame group. I kept her today and she didn't get sick once. He put her on antibiotics and something for nausea. She 'watched' listened to her Elmo and Care Bears movies and laughed all day. So good to finally figure out her problem. It's hard to know, when they can't tell you or point to their hurt. Just wanted to let you know, I hope this is it, and that she's on the mend.-Toogie

Thanks and yes they are painful, Leaha. It's just a guessing game at home and when we can't figure it out, then have to go for test. Pity she can't tell us where it hurts. She was better yesterday, so I hope she kept her night feeds down. She was also given something for the nausea.

Oh Sweet Avery I hope she gets better soon.Earaches are horrible for anyone to go through. I remember mine from my childhood and they aren't anything I would wish on any child. She is in my prayers.

Glad to hear she's laughing again! didn't know ear aches can make you vomit but I suppose if its really bad anything is possible.. a day home with her favourite nan should do the trick...

Earaches are one of the worst pains possible, as I have been dealing with ear issues from a child. Repeat infections without antibiotics, while growing up has left me nearly deaf. A kidney infection, along with an extremely high temp at age three, burst my left eardrum. The left ear is totally deaf, and only about 15 percent hearing left in the right ear.
When ears are infected, not only can it cause severe pain, but dizziness to the point of vertigo, and nausea to the point of vomiting. Bad ear infections can often affect the nerves in the inner ear, which results in dizziness and nausea. I am so glad you got Avery help right away, and hope she is feeling much better. I shudder to remember the pain, and my heart goes out to her!!

I knew what you meant, but that must have been awful for you. As Avery's ears are mostly her 'eyes', I sure wouldn't want her to loose her hearing. I suffer from vertigo and I know how nausea can be. It's just so bad cause she can't communicate to u

Poor Avery. It is bad enough that we have to be Dizzy Dames, but please Lord, make Avery's introduction into this club very very brief. My sympathies for her and prayers for a quick recovery.

That's a bad ouchy for a little girl. Earaches are horrible! Your daughter is a wise woman to watch all of her symptoms and then act on them. I'm glad to hear Avery is feeling better.

Thanks Jerrilyn. My daughter has medical background and usually doesn't panic, but she realized this was too long to be a virus. Since we didn't know what, it was time for tests, to figure it out. She would go sometimes all day, without being sick, and we would think she was going to be okay. Then, when I guess she would get so nauseated, she would get sick again. ..Time to take her in.

Must of been so good to hear her laughing after having to go to the hospital. My friend has a 30 year old who has never said a word or made an intentional movement. I have only experienced what you have from the sidelines and admire my friends (and yours) strength and determination, and empathize with the helplessness when there is a problem.

She has always liked Elmo. She likes his giggles and his voice. Most of the Elmo toys talk too and she can run the batteries down.-lol

Lol- I don't know about that, Lillian, but it does my heart good to hear her laugh. She may never be able to 'say' she loves us, but she tells us in her smile when she first hears our voice, that she's happy to see us. When she lets out a deep sigh, after a good hug.
