This rather odd looking bear is actually a cover for a microwavable rice pack. Hence the rectangular body. I've developed the project from an idea suggested by another Cutie who will remain nameless unless she cares to identify herself.

He is made ITH (130mm x 180mm) with a small amount of hand sewing to finish. My conundrum is that, if I make him more bear shaped, the cavity for the rice pack will be too small to be useful. The upside is that the rectangular shape leaves lots of room for embroidering a message!
Your opinions please.......

I think he is really cute with the shape he has. If he gets really stuffed with rice, he will look like a chubby little bear. Great Job Sue! ***Flowers***

My opinion, you can't improve on an already good thing. I like him and I think he looks 'swell' like he is.(or at least he will swell, when he's full of rice!)-Toogie

I like it as it is. The rectangular body shape is good not only for embroidering but also to dress him/her with nice printed fabric. It would be great as a toy.

Love the face. Could make his body with an embroidered tux. Just a tie and lapels to make him really dressed up. Just an idea, but he is so cute just the way he is. Hugs

I like him/her Sue. It can be named either gender and it's perfect especially for a child that has to have a heating pad . They are more apt to let you use this than anything else/Lillian

He is so cute! Once the rice pocket is in the microwave, do you toss the rice out?

Rice, wheat and flax seed can all be re-heated many times as long as you do not burn them. If you burn them they really smell bad!
I have a flax bag that is years old -- works well for so many things too.

I really like the idea of being able to personalize the bear. It is so much easier to use this type of hot/cold pack than a regular one. Nice work!
If you use flannel material it would work perfectly for a cold pack. You can either freeze the rice bag or use a gel pack. Even crushed ice would work in a bag.
You are getting some really good feedback. I am glad you brought it to the community...I just love this Cute community!

It is really nice to be able to test the water before spending a lot of time developing a design!

Hi Sue, I too think he/she is perfect as is. Great idea about being able to personalise him/her to with embroidery. I'm sure too it could have other animal shaped heads. I know you are very clever at doing things like this. Love Chris
