Oh woe is me...... my embroidery machine refused to start this morning. I have about 30 trick/ treat bags to make. I have embroidered 17 so far. Phoned Bernina (60 kms) away only to be told that the technician is on holiday. In absolute desperate mode I phoned Bernina Head Office in Johannesburg. The technician there knew exactly the problem and is ordering the parts so that hopefully they will arrive by Friday. The plan is to take my machine in on Friday and collect it on Monday. I will just have to get on with some ordinary sewing......

I empathise deeply. It must be so frustrating. At least you can come here for a "chat" and sympathy!

I am much calmer now. This morning I had a total freak out. This week I will sew the bags I have done already. Just think how much time I can be here on Cute!!!

Hi Sarah, I know what you are going through. That happened to me earlier this year as both the Husqvarna Designer 1 and my Brother had gone in for some issues and I had to use my old Husqvarna sewing machine just for straight stitching - except that machine played up and would only sew backwards!!!!!!!!! I didn't let it beat me I just turned the machine around and sewed that way. I see Sue has offered some "chat" and sympathy - how about some "Tea and Sympathy? Love Chris

Well Sarah if you were closer you could come and sew here. The plus point is that you have sewn over half of the bags.

Been there, done that. Don't know much about SA, but is there any place you can rent one? Stay calm you still have time to get them done.

Well, at least you were smart and started early (if your holiday is on the 31st like ours). Sounds like you have great tech and will get it fixed in no time. I'll bet you can find something to occupy your time.......we're here.

OUCH!!!! I have a Brother--5x7--which I use 99% of the time----I have a VERY OLD Brother 4x4 which I use mainly for lace--which I do NOT like to do on the 5x7---I also have a VERY INEXPENSIVE Brother that I use when I travel---use it ONLY if everything else fails----and have a piece of JUNK Brother that someday may get fixed and may get the sledge hammer---I am fortunate to have a back up----but they are not high quality machines but they work----I cannot imagine having 30 items to do---I ABSOLUTELY ADMIRE you for doing those!!!! I get stressed out when I do ONE thing for someone---I cannot even imagine the stress you have to do 30 items and the machine quits---God bless you and keep you calm and get your machine fixed!!!!!

That's awful. But, what good service you are getting with Bernina! That would never happen with my machine dealer!!!

Just an update. Having to take my machine further afield as the technician is away. Good news is although a longer journey I can take it in on Thursday and have it back on Saturday. Keep fingers crossed for me. The one good thing is that it has made me sew up all the bags. Have just posted on projects.

Having a diagnosis over the phone is brilliant. This is where I say dealers are so important as they will give advice to customers over the phone. I have saved myself many a journey with a phone call. My machine is booked in for a service soon. I live a day there and back to my dealer - a great excuse for a day out

Sarah had the same problem a week ago. On a Sun. afternoon machine quit cold turkey. Mon morn. i was waiting on my dealer/technician as he opened up. I got my machine next day. I'm only an hr and a half one way from my dealer so that's better than some but it ruins an entire day for me going and coming. can't leave hubby home so have to get him ready and take him along. I have a Babylock Ellegante
