Disappearing Pinwheel Quilt 3...I couldn't believe how this quilt went together...watch the video tutorial in the link attached...you will be amazed! This was fun...only used two fabrics instead of a fabric layer cake..cut my own 10" squares...I love the dark green...constellation fabric with gold glitter sparkles...light green is a batik with gold glitter sparkles in it, too...I digitized the "sun" for the light green inner border and the "Star" for the dark green outer border...the rest of the quilt was done in-the-ditch...every seam! The size is 75" x 90" and I am happy the results...The last two photos are the back...I ran out of dark green constellation fabric and had to piece in some of the light green around it...not my first choice but I think it worked out well anyway...

This quilt was the first thing I saw when I got on Cute and 'how sweet it is!'- You have done an amazing job...again! From the fabrics, to the designing, to the quilting, everything is so well done. I just watched the video. My grandmother would be so amazed, had she been able to do it like this. The thing back then was necessity. It was necessary to quilt to keep your family warm and you couldn't just go out and buy these large pieces of fabric, you had to use what you had on hand. But boy if she could have, she would have seen how much faster you could get it pieced, by doing it with the large squares of fabric. Tell me if you remember, how much fabric yardage, light, dark and white did you use to piece the top, this size?

Spectacular quilt! Don't you just love the clever clogs who came up with this short cut! Seeing all those nice quilts want me have a go at one again.
At the moment I am hand quilting one for a parishioner who could no longer do it herself because of arthritis and deteriorating eyesight. It's only the last 25% and her stitches were tinier than I had ever done, so I am rather slow although I am enjoying the process and learning a lot.

Thanks, Martine...it amazes me how these come together...even more amazing is that there are four different ways to rearrange the pieces and come up with four totally different quilts...mind boggling!

I just love Jenny from the Missouri Quilt company. She and her staff have such fun making their quilts. This looks fabulous Kim and I've often done similar to what you did with not having enough fabric to finish. What a lot of extra work in doing all those compass points in your embroidery. Kim, thank you for the yardages, for this amazing quilt. Ever since you and my sister, have shown me these disappearing blocks, I have been excited about making one. I keep thinking how nice, and exciting it would have been,to be able to share these ideas with my grandmother. Thank you Toogie...I hope you will make one of these as well...it is truly amazing how quilting has evolved from cutting each piece individually by hand and then "magically" doing it all with a rotary cutter...watching it transform from one pattern to another is quite amazing...
