Please could you all have a look underneath and behind your sofa cushions for me?

Last night, I decided to knit some of those cute little Christmas puddings that hold a single Ferrero Rocher chocolate. I finished the first one and sewed it up. When I tried to start a second one, one of my knitting needles had completely vanished. This morning I stripped the sofa down and searched underneath it and down every crevice. No knitting needle, so I assume it has disappeared down the space time continuum and reappeared somewhere else. (To avoid confusion with multiple findings, mine is a 3.75 mm one.)

I looked and did find nothing. Do you search only the needle or the chocolate too?

I think it's enjoying itself on the missing craft tools planet, just like my glasses that went missing on August 14 - I took them off when crocheting.

When I went through divorce, my sister sent me a box of gourmet chocolates with a note: There are some events in life so big, chocolate is the only consolation.
by jrob 21 Oct 2014
Your sister is smart, Betsy.
Sue, I hope you ate the chocolate.

Tip the couch over backwards, and you will be amazed what you find! If you find my lost pair of gingher scissors, i'll pay the postage to send them back. One time we noticed lots of Ben's cassette tapes were missing, and when I tapped under the couch, I could tell there were tapes up in the lining. I opening the bottom up and found 112 tapes, 12 CDs, 2 harmonicas, 2 cartridges for his Qchord, and a few other small toys - It's fun to remember that!

I looked under my couch and found dog toys, dog hair, some coins but no knitting needle. It must have gone the same place of my husbands car keys years ago. He drove home (so he must have had them then) and they were never ever found. Maybe there is a giant magnet somewhere in space. Please be careful sitting down.
Did you wear slacks with cuffs? was there a shoe close by?

Look in your backyard.....I lost a sewing needle once (doing a longstitch at the time) & had been looking all around me - my hubby found it outside the back door. So now when anything goes missing we say to check outside the back door.

Has your knitting needle been found yet?

The little knitted puddings sound cute...

looks like the Borrowers have relatives in your home too. I am just wondering what they want a knitting needle for. Ok it would make a great weapon against mice or rats but an even better idea is using it like a polevault to get across deep puddles. it would of course make a great spit roast for the Christmas sparrow.
Then again if they decide to hang it across a room it would be good to thread through a curtain (have you also lost a scarf or a piece of fabric) to make a draft excluder across the doorway into their home.
I would love the pattern for the Xmas puddings please.
May i sugest you do what i do when something goes missing, Just stand in the middle of the room and say "Please " out loud and then looking around the room. this often results in me suddenly coming across it again. Make sure you say a thank you when you find it again as they have gone to the trouble to return it .After all the Borrowers are so very good and do a great job of keeping those dust bunnies at bay.

If it returns, could you have it send back the button I was getting ready to put on my pants?
This was a wonderful post and so many cute answers. Thanks for initiating this entertainment.

Had to replace the fabric under our lounge chairs because the cat & dog had pulled it apart so it is not there.Any furry 4 legged residents that can't keep their paws & mouths to themselves in your house?
Maybe it has disintegrated like mine size 9 tortoise shell knitting needles.Last month I got my knitting needle roll out of the cupboard, first time in about 15yrs ,opened it up to find a pr of so called tortoise shell needles just a pile of coloured dust & pieces .All the other needles in perfect order.

That's why I use circular needles now, also metal ones are sometimes found with a magnet in the sides of the sofa.
Good Luck

Nice but not so nice to find out that someone else has a needle/hook eating lounge!! : -)
Treat yourself to a new pair of needles - Sorry!
If my <2 mm hook or my 5 mm needle turn up at your place, let me know please..
I cannot remember the size of the hook as that lounge chair has swallowed 2 crochet hooks and one knitting needle, but only given up ONE crochet hook. The first one went missing over 8 years and three house moves ago. [And I checked the removal van each time!]

Sue, Have not been coming to this site since it changed and does not do the Designs by cuties and says it is still maintenance.
However, I have enjoyed many of your designs that were on that site then, especially the purses that were about 5x4 like the cat and dog.
I think you have a site that your designs are on but I do not know where. Could you let me know. Thank you, einon
