Pink Ribbon Tote Bag for My Friend with Breast Cancer
My friend/former co-worker was found to have breast cancer last year and had a surgery. I've wanted to make her something.
October is the Breast Cancer Awareness Month and her birthday is in October too. I order the double-sided quilted fabric, and a panel in Breast Cancer theme from Fabric.com. I ordered the pink ribbon snaps (on the flap of the outside pocket) from Kamsnaps.com.
The inside pocket and the flap are made from blocks of the panel. The bag is a half yard of the quilted fabric.
The strap connectors are attached in the hoop using Nancy Zieman and Eileen Roche's Designer Handbag CD. The flap is made in the hoop with their design too.
As there's no lining, I simply used wave stitch on my serger to finish up the inside seams.
"Believe" is the "One Thing Font" from 8clawsandapaw. I got their membership, which is available till the 26th. I saw a picture of a bag they made with these words on their facebook page and I really liked it, so I copied the idea. The letter L in that font looks just like a ribbon.
The last picture is the fabric panel "Think Pink" from fabric.com.
Hugs, Lidia
