Amy's family dropped over yesterday for an impromptu lunch! Trevor just defrosted some Lamb fillets and Steaks and we had lunch about 1.30pm. It was a "stinker" here yesterday reaching 37C (very hot!!!) They had ridden their bicycles with Delphi sitting in a baby seat attached to Amy's bike and Ophelie on her own bike attached to Steve's wheels! By the time they got here ( about an 11km bike ride ) they were all hot and sweaty. Anyway, whilst here I asked Steve if he would climb up the ladder and check on the baby Kookaburras that have hatched and take some pictures. I've attached a couple for you all to have a look at. I love watching the parent birds coming and going feeding these little ones. There are actually 3 birds and they do this every year. There is the mother and the father along with a sibling from last year's batch! It's going to be another hot day here for us - and this is only Spring, not looking forward to summer this year! 1. 3 Kookaburra chicks - one egg not hatched! This would normally be thrown out by the parents, so we will wait and see. This picture was taken with my new camera (Amy gave it to me for my birthday) and I haven't added the date to it yet.
2. This is the tree at the back of our deck, so you can see where they are nesting. This was taken in late August when they were checking the nest out. It's a very safe nest!
