When the trees are bare, outside flowers are gone, sun is covered with gray clouds, I still have beauty in my house every fall. My cactus's bloom from now till March. Just love them. Thanks for looking. Sandy

They are beautiful! I have two Christmas cactuses, one is putting out buds now and I'm so looking forward to it's blooms. The other blooms later as a rule. Thanks for the lovely photo.

I have looked for the dark red one forever. I knew a man who use to have one and have loved the dark red ever since.

Thanks for sharing. Yours are gorgeous. I am so happy to be home with my monster cactus. I now have 3 with buds. I missed my original cactus and had to get another in each state we lived in while a friend looked after mine.

Some are called Christmas cactus , for obvious reasons & seem to have flowers with zig zag shaped edges.( sharp pointed edges)
by lilylady 05 Nov 2014
One of mine have the zig zag edges and one is smooth. A lady told me there is a Christmas cactus, thanksgiving and easter cactus. Maybe I will have to search web and see what I can find

Beautiful healthy plants.
My zygocactus usually flower in May but this year I had to replace some which had eventually gave in to old age ,20 -25 yrs old.I bought new ones yellow ,bright red, apricot ,orange & white which are thriving but the yellow one decided to flower again last Saturday ,not a good idea when its 100 degrees outside with a hot wind blowing. They are in hanging baskets on the pergola.

How pretty! How do you get them to blossom like that? I had mine sitting outside all summer, and for the first time ever, while I was away, and the nights were cold, they started putting on blossoms. But then it got far too cold for them to be outside, so I brought them in and the blossoms fell off. :( I have a dozen or so plants. They grow like weeds, but don't flower.

I use to put mine outside and as soon as I brought them in they would bloom till spring. I don't put them out anymore, but the just start blooming this time of year.

Your flowers are lovely, it's amazing the different names they go by all round the world. My Aunt use to call then Crab Cactus I think because they are jointed like Crab Claws.. By what ever name the are lovely to look at... Marian

A lady told me once, there is a Christmas cactus, a thanksgiving cactus and a easter cactus. The leaves are different on these two, so don't know which is which. LOL
