Not a happy chappy. Although my machine is now able to turn on, I have other huge problems. Keep getting birds nests - never even had this ever. The thread splits and then breaks. The tension is wrong and some other things. I have just written to Bernina head office...............

I wouldn't be happy either Sarah. It must be frustrating to wait so long and then have it come back with additional problems, right here at christmas time too. Feel bad for you.

Well, yuk! Hope this gets straightened out! I wouldn't be happy either.

So not fair! You have already been waiting so long for this machine. How could they return it to you when it was not fixed. I hope the head office finds a way to help you our and quickly.

How awful!! Don't they guarentee the repairs? They are suppose to make sure the machine is in tip top shape before they release it. Hopefully you will get results fast. Suzanne

Oh Sarah. How unfair this is. I would think that the dealer would have tested it properly before releasing it to you. I hope you get satisfaction from Bernina soon. This does not sound like they way they normally operate their business. Maybe they could lend you a machine till yours is fixed properly. Hugs, Mary

They did send back samples of the work they had embroidered with my machine - no birds nest.
Sarah how do you know that it was done on YOUR machine ? sorry but sometimes I do not trust those sales people. Once we resend a CD player which was not functioning at all, and we got the same one back ! claming it was a new one. Whch was not 'cos we marked it with an X somewher before returning. When we mentioned it. they went to the stockroom and THEN we got an other one...
I do trust them Linda as I have been dealing with Bernina for many years. I am sure it is something that will right itself. If not it will go back.

so frustrating, especially when Christmas is coming and probably you need to sew lots of gifts. Hope it clears out soon

When I was looking at buying an embroidery machine I watched a store owner using a Bernina Machine and she had the thread in a funny place on the table. Short story - try different threads and try them in different positions around your machine to see how each thread behaves and in what position they behave best.
Good luck

Thank you Patricia. I might just try this, although it is not the answer. If I cannot get it right it will have to go back.

I hope you get fast answers and your machine back to normal. It's just not right to happen this time of year! Maybe they have a loaner machine, that would be nice.

I asked them before and they do not loan out machines :-(

Sarah when my machine is returned from the dealer it has a piece of fabric with the needle in it. The fabric always has been stitched on. There is also a card with information as to what has been done with the service and if anything has been replaced then the dead bits are in a plastic bag for me to take away. When I was last at the shop I use there were about 6 machines in the shop itself and I was told that each of them were not stitching properly. The shop was testing each machine with the thread that was sent with the machine and the shops own quality thread. There is a lot of cheap thread about which machines don't like. Have you tried a new needle? Right hope something works for you and you get back to working properly as you are used to

Caroline thank you for this. In my hoop which went with the machine there was a piece of calico which had been embroidered from my designs saved on the machine, so I know that they were embroidered on my machine. I am going to follow the instructions that they have now sent, change the needle and tomorrow just sit and keep CALM. I will let you know the outcome.

Really sorry to hear this. I only have Bernina and they are usually so reliable. You live so far from Jo'burg that spares must be really hard to get hold of. Hope that these problems are fixed very soon.

What thread are you using ?
Hi Cheryl - I have various threads but the one I like the best is a make called Colorful, which I get from Jhb when I am there.
