I have just spent the last hour sewing out a newly purchased design. This design hangs with a loop of ribbon. In cutting round the edge of the design I have cut the ribbon off. I realise its probably time to call it a day. Anyone else done anything equally stupid?

We all do such things when we are tired or preoccupied. It's not stupid just a sign that we aren't suppose to be doing that particular part of a project at that moment in time. Take a deep breathe go for a short stroll around the house, get a hug, cuddle a cat, call a grandchild. Change perspectives...as I've learned it falls under that category that 'stuff' happens. You will be able to fix it by simple tacking a ribbon too it by hand or machine. I have faith in you. (long distance hug to you)

I do very silly things when I am too tired to be sewing... too many things to list! I do know it's a good sign for me to stop if I put something wrong side to right side though. I hope you get good sleep tonight!

Stupidist thing i did was cut 4" off my NEW tape measure with my rotary cutter, even more stupid is i still use the tape measure and forget to add 4". Should i be ruthless and throw it away ????

Maybe you fixed as it was only suppose to be that long to start with!!!!! Sorry couldn't resist...smile

Made me smile too. I would invest in a new tape measure.

Pitch it, or measure 4" on a surface like cutting table or front of sewing machine and glue it in place! Or, hey, attach a 4" pretty ribbon to the front of it!

LOL!

Funny. Could be something I would do.

Pauline I am howling with laughter. Should you throw or keep the tape measure? I would ask for a new one for Christmas. I remember having a tape and the metal end came off and I would forget. Eventually it was chucked

You are in good company. My list would be very long if I had to show it to anyone.

I've done that same thing. I just made a bow with a loop and then stitched it on. Hope that will work for you.

Just do a taylor tack on the back side with more ribbon and it will be a save! KAY

Caroline - I think you were right to call it a day. Because I am a morning person and up very early, I never sew in the afternoon as I am just too tired and also in the summer I find it just too hot. It is when I am tired that things usually go wrong. I am so sorry that the ribbon got cut off by mistake.

Oh you poor thing. Isn't it so disheartening we we mess up. I do it to I'm sure we all do from time to time. It does make me feel better knowing I am not alone. Hugs for you. xx

I am not a morning person, so I don't sew in the morning until I feel I am no longer dangerous driving that thing! (Usually about 10 or 11:00 a.m.) No telling what I'd do!

So easily done! I did just that on my first test stitch for the Christmas Tree ornament I have just posted in the projects section.

So easy to make mistakes when we are tired - even the cleverest stitchers are only human.
But smile - maybe you were destined to "improve" this new design by joining on a fresh piece of ribbon and hiding the join with a lovely bow - or something like that.

Thanks for the great advice a bow will add to the design

Tired accounts for most mistakes. easily fixable though. So don't worry we have all been there at one time or another. Suzanne
