hi all , need some advice please , i have just purchased a Brother innovis v3 embroidery machine ,i also have a innovis 750e and have used a 900, upon opening and setting it up i have gone to use it and noticed the embroidery foot doesn't go up and down whilst embroidering like my 750 and the 900 and drags and pulls up all the upper stabiliser .. is this machine faulty ?

I'm sorry I can't answer your question - I use a Janome machine (and the foot doesn't move whilst sewing.) A Brother expert will be along very soon.

i always thought the foot pushed the fabric back down as the needle raised maybe these newer machines don't need it ??
It is a mystery to me! It is enough to watch with the needle going up and down and the hoop moving. Any more would be overload!

My Deco foot doesn't move either. Never noticed really but just looked.

Hi and welcome. If the stabiliser is being pulled up there is something not correct. Did you get the machine from a dealer? if so I would get back to them and ask questions as to what to do to prevent what is happening. How frustrating that you have a new machine and its not working well. Is it worth taking the foot off the machine and then refitting it to see if it was correctly fitted and try stitching something out without upper stabiliser. Then you can see if the machine works OK. Good Luck with this and I am sure there will be more replies to assist you. AND do let us know how the problem was solved.

i use aquaroll , like a water soluble cling film , always been happy with it but as the new machine moves the hoop the film is getting caught on the foot and ripping up so the pile is no longer being flattened as it stitches .

Would a much larger piece of aquaroll help so more fabric is covered. I was using something similar this week and I didn't have enough as I was using a bit up and had to keep stopping and rejig where it was to gain max coverage. Asterixsew in the UK

According to the YouTube videos concerning your machine that I just watched -- the foot does not move up and down.
Make sure the upper stabilizer is placed flat and secured with edges outside of the path for the foot. That way it should be less likely to pull on the stabilizer. It is best to place it taut and securely within the hoop.

Check in settings or your manual. Some machines have a adjustment for the height of the foot allowing for different thicknesses. With none of my machines is the foot moving up and down.
Also make sure you are using the embroidery foot and not the one that was on your machine when you opened it.

Does the foot actually touch the stabilizer when you start? If the needle has a burr or a tiny "hook" at the tip caused by hitting something metal, for instance, it will pull the stabilizer up as it withdraws. A bad needle
causes a popping sound and will eventually shred the stabilizer ( and cause runners in knit fabrics.)

You raise and lower the foot with the handle, but the foot is always just above the fabric. If it is dragging then the change the needle or re-hoop.
