Chatting to step daughters mother-in-law at a wedding ,she said the latest addition to the family ,a baby girl ,was her 25th great grandchild. At the last wedding nearly 5 yrs ago she had 12 ,6 of each sex but now the girls now leading the count.
I was wondering if there are many other great grand mothers , out there with such a large number of great grand children.

I reckon I'll be near 80 before I have great grand-children we didn't start having children till we were 27 and 29 respectively. Then Dana had her first at 24 - our eldest grand-child is only 9 in February! I'm 62, I don't think Ryke will have children till he's in his late 20's or even 30's - like his father - but I can dream! Love Chris
Judy, that is an enormous amount of great-grandchildren that that lady has - I know that Pauline has a lot of grand-children but not great grand children! Love Chris

I had the first of my four children at the age of 30, became a grandma for the first time aged almost 65, so I'll be very lucky if I have a great grandchild before I am 95!
My step daughters had their children young but their brother wouldn't have any if his wife hadn't decided she wasn't going to wait any longer,so there is about 20yrs between the eldest & the youngest grand child.

I wonder how many children she had herself. That is a huge number of great grand children to have.

I am not exactly sure how old she is or how many children she had,so this could be out by one or two. 86yrs old & 6 children.

Wow that is a large family. I will never come close to that amount.
I am blessed with 4 children, 5 grands and 2 great-grand-sons.

Wow, a one woman population explosion. I am not so fortunate. I started my family late in life. I have 2 children in their 30's who don't even have a significant other in their lives. Even though my parents lived to a ripe old age, I have little hope at the moment of getting any grandchildren, much less greats.

They may be just 'late bloomers', so you never do know! I also started late, so will quite likely be in a similar situation in 10 yrs time :)
Thanks, yes, you never know, but I'm not holding my breath.

I have to say my mother-in-law has 39 grandchildren, 82 great grandchildren and I have lost count of the great, great grandchildren. She is 91 and has dementia. She is now in the nursing home for her safety as she isn't able to care for herself.
As she was a child care provider is our area for many, many years, keeping the children of the ones who she had kept earlier. These children still call her Mamaw.

I forgot to say she had 13 children and 5 stepchildren.
Wow, what a busy family tree! One of my sisters had 7 children and I'm not sure any of them have produced any so far, yet the sister who had only one child has 2 grandchildren plus a couple of 'steps'-funny how the numbers work out but nothing like as neat as Raels' family :)
That is amazing number of children to have, that was more common in the 1800's than the 1900's

I have 4 children, 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren with another on the way. Three of the great grandchildren are 1 year old, all born within 6 weeks of each other.
