Have just this minute received a phone call from a guy who says he is from 'Windows' and he notices that I am having some trouble. I pretended that I did not know what he was saying and he rang off. This sounds like a scam to me. Have any other Cuties had call like this?

It is a scam, Sarah, I had call like this a few years ago and he had an foreign accent, I told him to give me his number and I would have our computer tech call him......of course he didn't leave a number...

Most of them do. I once asked if he thought I was stupid. He said "no"...then I laughed & said then why do you think I'd fall for this!

Yes I too have had this call. If you don't get rid of them properly they will keep hounding you. I was too nice to begin with, then I had to get tough.

My 92 year old mother got this call-she doesn't have a computer!! She also got a call saying that her computer was slowing down the mainframe and wanted access to her computer to correct it ! Both scams backfired for them .Be vigilant -be safe

My 98 year old Auntie in a nursing home says " I am just a old lady in a home. I don't understand." I had to smile when I heard her saying this while visiting.

It is a Scam. I like to hold the phone away a bit and say, "this is the call, are you tracing it? Did you get it?" They hang up fast and don't call back.

It is a scam because Microsoft does not call you. My sister got a few of these and gave the guy a hard time.,. He hung up. DO NOT fall for this... they just want to take over your computer . Suzanne

Sarah last time I had such a call my reply was Oh how exciting in a excited voice. They hung up instantly. I have also passed Twm onto the caller when he was learning to talk. They gave up

3 other scams ) *1 they will say your grand child is in jail and you need to go to a local store and put money on a prepaid card in order to get them out.... * 2 they will say you ran a red light and if you don't put money on a prepaid card you will go to jail. *3. you failed to show up for a court date and will be arrested if you don't put money on a prepaid card....PS local law enforcement does not call and threaten to arrest you for failure to pay or to get a relative out of jail. live wise spread the word//mm

Definitely a scam. You can help put them away by telling them you're little busy at the moment and ask for their phone number. Report them to your local police station. It will help keep the "cyberworld" a little safer.

Yes, I too have received this call. When he told me that there was a problems with my windows - I replied that "I can see out of my windows,
why do I need you to do something with them!" There was a long silence and then he replied - "no, your computer windows". I told him that "I wasn't aware that computers had windows". Never heard from them again.

Excellent. Playing dumb with scammers can be fun. When told I was having problems with my computer, I said, "What computer?" then he asked how many I had, so I hung up. I like your response so much better!

Yes it is a scam. Usually with an Indian (East) accent. Don't fall for it. They will ask for internet control of your computer to "fix" it and charge hundreds of dollars.

We get them regularly. The first couple I was nice and just said "No thank you". After about 8 calls, I finally said, "Do not call me again ofr I will report you." Haven't had a call since!! I didn't know who I could "report them to but the trheat scared them off. In a week or two you will probably get another call.

This is a very old scam. I told him I did not have a computer but I was sitting in front of it. heehee. He then asked why didn't I have a computer everyone in Australia has one. I just laughed and hung up. Over the years I have had quite a few of these calls. Now my phone comes up with "overseas" and I do not answer it. Marg

Yes I am getting them on average of 3 a day at the moment from the computer scam and also one saying they are from Telstra.
It is a scam and I suspect they go through the telephone listings in alphabet order. It lasts a couple of weeks then we get a break from it and it starts all over again.
We are on a do not call list but that doesn't stop the overseas calls.

Yes, I have received them. It is a scam. Please let everyone know this. I had been working with Dell software support on a computer problem, but this was a out of the blue call. When he told me that they had received information that I was having computer problems and I needed to go online and so they could connect with my computer to clear up the problems. I had to laugh because I had just gotten my computer back home.

It's a scam. I get it all the time. One time my hubby said ok, what do I need to do to fix it. The caller said what he should do and hubby gave him a password that was made up then he wanted over $100 to fix the problem. There was no problem. I always ask if they already know that my computer has a problem, why do they need a password. The caller was definitely looking to get into our info. The biggest thing to remember on this stuff is that the companies from name brands as big as Windows would never call you for anything.
