I loved doing this Christmas Tree...it is done totally in the hoop and finishes at about 18x20 inches or so...the concept is so amazing to me...each piece is stitched and added as you go...starts at the bottom and finished with the star on the top...I have done this in white satin and gold thread...I thought about adding some crystals...but I really think it is so elegant just the way it is...so I am on the fence with the crystals...

Yes, jsut a few. It isquite elegant, but I think it's almost all texture, except for the pretty curves, so more texture would be lovely too..

Oh, not sure who Kates is...and this was not a free design...either you are very lucky...or they are not the same???
by mops 07 Dec 2014
katulle used this shape to make a one-piece (much smaller) design which she offered in DBC.
by justsew 07 Dec 2014
Yes that is the one I have .
by noah 07 Dec 2014
No it is the same size !!
by dragonflyer 07 Dec 2014
Okay...not I get it..and I do have those smaller ones from Katulle...I just wasn't connecting the dots...this is a much different project than the one Katulle posted in DBC...

Thanks, Laura...it isn't a metallic, so it was just fine...I think even with a good metallic thread it would not have been a problem...

That's really nice. I guess you should just lay out some crystals and look at it for 1/2 a day to decide. I like it like this for sure.

How much gold thread do you use to make this?

Thank you for your kind comments..gosh, I really don't know...I use 5,000mm spools...I don't think it really took that much though...I just looked at the instructions and they don't really say...I will say that if you had one 1100mm spool it would be plenty...top and bobbin thread are the same gold...
by 1961nancy 09 Dec 2014
Thanks for the reminder on putting in the bobbin.

Its beautiful. It reminds me of a smaller tree that Katulle posted a few years ago.I checked the link out but the design is a bit to dear for me especially with our weak Aussie dollar & conversion fees adds on about 20%extra to the price.Hopefully it might come on sale during the next year .
