I hoop tear away and then use a glue stick to stick down the PUL. I then remove as much stabilser as possible and because I'm usually making nappy covers that need to be sealed to avoid moisture leakage (polite, eh? lol) I then iron a smaller piece of PUL to the inside of the PUL to cover the back of the embroidery to seal it. Shiny side to shiny side will stick to each other with nothing but the heat of the iron. (When using PUL for nappies/covers the knit side is the right side and the shiny side is the wrong side.)

As for pins: I only use them if absolutely necessary and only then in the seam allowance. I prefer to just hold my layers together when sewing, or if I'm battling with keeping things together then I'll use bulldog clips (or hair clippies in a pinch). HTH :) xXx

As you know I use PUL all the time, I use tearaway, spray adhesive and apply Pul. I hoop everything including a peice of the plastic on top(can't remember the technical term) because your stitched will disappear in the pul if not. If I can offer another hint, when choosing your designs, choose one in which the stitches run horizontally rather than vertically (as much as possible) otherwise the stitches will pucker.

Haven't sewn on PUL yet Toogie, but don't forget masking tape or painter's tape or green plaid Scotch tape to replace pins.

Anytime I do not want hoop burn, I baste with temp basting spray and secure item with painters tape. Have not tried PUL so far. Good luck and let us know what worked.

I use tear away, pul then WSS & it has been perfectly fine for me too. Don't screw it on to tight & you should be fine. Spray adhesive without the hoop if your too nervous but you never know until you try right. ~hugs~
