Had a great day today sewing out Queen Elizabeth the first. I got this design from Brother years ago and decided to put it on a hand towel for Trev's Mum (88) who is arriving tomorrow with Trev's brother and sister in law and daughter for nearly a week. I made her the King Henry earlier in October for her birthday. Barbara (MIL) made the King and Queen in hand stitched petit pointe and I've always loved them, she told us last time she has bequeathed them to us. I put the other Pansy coaster on it too. (for SIL)

This design took hours as there are nearly 58,000 stitches. I did it in the 5x7 hoop and followed the colours of the original as closely as possible. It's been done on a lemon hand towel. I took 2 pictures one with a flash and one without - the photo doesn't do it justice. I finished it about 6.00pm as we have Ophelie and Delphi having a sleep over and with Mum arriving tomorrow I had to put Ophelie in the day/night bed (where Ophelie usually sleeps) and Delphi in the portacot in my sewing room. Both girls are fast asleep and even Trev has gone to bed.

1. Queen Elizabeth the 1st with flash.
2. Queen Elizabeth the 1st without flash.
Thanks for looking, love Chris

Chris this was alot of work but well worth it. She is beautiful and your MIL will love it I am sure. Extra work is fine when you make it out of love and for someone special who will appreciate it.

Hi Michelle, I know she will love it and most probably just hang it up and never use it, but that's o.k. You are right though it was a lot of work. Love Chris

It was worth every stitch and every minute. I can only imagine the many color changes it took to make this. But her joy will be a wonderful reward.

Most unusual design. I did study her in my Elisabeth 1 project of clothing and design. The funny thing I remember was that her body was shaped like a wasp with all the bone corsets she whore from child hood up. To survive King Henry the VIII and take the throne was amassing. Kay
