Just wanted to assure everyone here that we're safe from the Sharks at our local beaches. Amy, Steve, Ophelie and Delphi live at Merewether and visit the beach nearly every day and that is where that massive shark has been cruising! He is a Great White Shark nearly 5 metres long! He is a biggun!!!! Most people are taking heed, but we still have a few stupid people going in the water. Lots of talk about them here as you can imagine! Quote from our Sydney Telegraph newspaper.

"BEACHES in the NSW city of Newcastle are closed for a record seventh day straight after repeated great white shark sightings, with a dolphin being attacked off the coast. The beaches were first closed when a five-metre great white shark was seen on Saturday at Merewether Beach. Beach inspectors and helicopter crews will monitor the coastline on Friday after at least three sharks were sighted on Thursday.

1. The Great White Shark taken from the Helicopter!
2. Merewether Beach with swimmers not heeding the warnings. If you stay near the edge of the water and not out in the surf you are safe. It's school holidays here and having the beaches closed for the 7th day in a row has forced a lot of people to the local swimming pool centres. Business is booming there! Love Chris

Hi Chris - We have not had a shark attack here this Christmas, which is unusual. We did have a pod of killer whales which is the first time they have ever been spotted here in Knysna. Unfortunately we missed them as we were away. Keep out of the water!!!

Beautiful beach! I would have a hard time staying out of the water. I hope folks take warning until the danger has passed.

The beaches have been closed again today! Trev and I went for a bike ride down to our local beach Redhead and there were over 60 board riders out there. The water was pristine and about 21C in! Love Chris

I agree people take awful risks without thought to the people who are around them. The shark is beautiful in his own way just like any other animal. Enjoy the pool where it is safe or walking on the beach until the shark decides he has outstayed his welcome.

Hi Karen, there are so many bait fish here at the moment because the water is so warm. It's their natural environment after all, so we need to respect that! Love Chris

Chris, if you go in, just remember, stay near one person that you know you can outswim!

You can always sit on the shoreline and splash around in the water, just wouldn't go out of my depth at the moment. Love Chris

he he he, I think I know where I'd rather be than in the snow at the moment. We had a lovely bike ride this morning and had breakfast on the beach. Over 60 board riders and a few swimmers near the shore. A shark was spotted at Burwood Beach which is the next beach over around the bluff! Love Chris

Happy to hear you are all safe. At over 16 feet long, I would give him the beach. Won't catch me out there-lol- Beautiful shot but mindless people.

wow incredible shot. People don't appear to be going in the water so that is a very good thing. I hope they catch it soon & am happy that everyone is safe so far. ~hugs~
