It looks very nice to me - the edges look nice a straight. On the one I made they curve like bananas!

I think it looks good, perhaps the center I may have chosen different colours to bring it out a bit - depends on the focal point that you wanted to obtain. I think brighter colours would bring the whole center piece out more.

Pam we are often hard on ourselves when others see our work differently. This looks very nice and congratulations on finishing it. Sue is the one to get answers from as she has sewn this design a few times but she says its fine.

I agree. I think you are being too hard on yourself. You tried something new and that was the purpose of the challenge. I know the first time I do something, I am never happy. I think of a way that might be better and try ir. Don't get discouraged. Keep experimenting. Who knows, you might discover something new and different.

you did a pretty good job Pam. Chris is right about cutting on the grain & your biding is terrific. Maybe a bit of steam will get it to lie flatter or if all else fails add a bit more quilting to the lines either way you did just fine & I think the middle is lovely. ~hugs~ Is this a quilt as you go project too?

I think it's very pretty. Nice fabrics and colors. The embroidery is very nice. You did a good job.

A trick I've seen on TV that designers use when setting up for photo shoots is to lay the item out on a padded surface that you can stick pins in to. Lay it out and spritz it with water (if the fabric can take water) and gently tweak it into shape and pin it to the surface. Then while it's still sort of damp press it into shape a section at a time - use a press cloth if needed. Use a clapper to get crisp seams. Let it dry while it's pinned.

I think you're a star getting such a narrow binding so neat!The fabrics go so well together and the design in the centre is so pretty. Nice job.

I think it is great, as i have not attempted anything like this yet. You have some good suggestions below, we look at our projects and say next time i will change this or that. Always room for improvement, but don't be too hard on your self. A very pretty project well done. Sandra.

If this is your 1st attempt and you are disappointed DON'T be!!!! Love the colors, the design. It's wonderful to me, sleep on it, get away from it and when you come back it will be impressive. :)

You should be proud of your first effort. Very pretty. I was watching u-tube with a similar runner and the presenter said the outside border fabric should be sewn on the top of the runner to stop the wavy effect. I have never made one so it is only a suggestion. hugs Marg

Pam its lovely, Your binding is lovely and neat, you could maybe stretch it slightly when you are putting it on. I measure along the centre of the quilt to get the length of the binding as it often differs to the edge measurement. That technique might help, Hugs Jo

The colors and center design are lovely. Did you try the steam iron yet? If you still are not happy with it, trim off the sides maybe an inch or so-or a bit at a time until it lays nice and flat, then trim all the binding off. To rebind, make sure you have gotten extra wide bias tape, (or make your own-check out info on link). I sew it to the back first. When I bring it to the front, I use a super thin line of Elmer's glue and iron that dry. It stays without using pins, and then sewing the tape down is easy. It will wash out when the topper is washed, and is one of the greatest hints I ever came across.

Your colors and embroidery are lovely. I like to line my table runners to hide the seams and the back side of embroidery and then topstitch along the edge. I feel it is more finished that way.

I think it's lovely! Nothing I do is perfect and that's just fine...except when it comes to buring food on my new stove top. How boring the world would be if everybody did everything perfectly.

I think you did a great job. The wavy edges on your quilt are all on the bias, so they stretch easily when sewing on your binding. I lay my quilts flat on a table and pin a lot. You could also use some tear away stabilizer underneath while sewing these edges together. I hope this helps. Don't give up, doing anything new takes practice.

The fabric and design looks lovely - I like the colors... Don't know how you did this BUT I would have used a spray starch (Best Press) on my fabric and would have done a quilt as U go method. I have found that helpful..The spray starch holds the bias edges firmer..

I think it looks great even though you have wavy edges at the centre on both sides. If it was me, I'd try to ease that part of the edges - that should take care of it. Always worth a try.
Don't be disappointed - we all have something that we can put down to "oh well, it was a learning curve".
